  1. I live in Utah, so unfortunately that won't be possible for me. But I'm excited to hear how they live up to your hype.
  2. That's a pretty bold prediction putting Prosper in over bands like Castle, William Mason, Marian Catholic, Owasso, and Dobyns-Bennett. Not saying that all 6 bands from texas dont have a chance, but its pretty bold.
  3. Wilkinson posted the results from BOA Southlake. Hendrickson didnt compete at that competition, so they aren't listed. They are a great band though, probably would have placed in the 4-6 range here. Edit: oops, didnt see your second post until after I responded to the first.
  4. I would agree. I was choosing between Keller and Conroe. I forgot that Oak Ridge was in that district. Something interesting that I've noticed is that all of these school districts are on the north side (suburbs) of the metropolitan area of the cities they reside near.
  5. To get the discussion started, here are my top five based on producing quality programs recently or that are still on the rise along with the main bands from those districts in case you dont know them: 1. Lewisville ISD (Flower Mound, Marcus, Hebron) 2. Leander ISD (Leander, Vandegrift, Cedar Park, Vista Ridge, Rouse) 3. North East ISD (Claudia Taylor Johnson, Reagan, Churchill) 4. Round Rock ISD (Round Rock, Cedar Ridge) 5. Keller ISD (Keller, Keller Central, Timber Creek)
  6. Which school districts do you think seem to produce the best shows overall year after year? This could be school districts with a couple of hard-hitting bands, or just school districts with lots of mid-tier talent. Also which school districts seem to be on the rise?
  7. Way to go Timber Creek! Cool to see three keller bands in the finals.
  8. My early predictions: 1. Flower Mound 2. Avon 3. Claudia Taylor Johnson 4. Hebron 5. Vandegrift 6. The Woodlands 7. Leander 8. Cedar Park 9. Round Rock 10. Marcus 11. Reagan 12. Cedar Ridge 13. Keller 14. Hendrickson I expect Round Rock and Marcus to peak at GNats, which is why I have them a bit lower. Next few out would be Bowie, LD Bell, Churchill, Coppell, Vista Ridge, and Cy Fair if Harvey hasn't affected them too much.
  9. I'm excited, too! I can't focus on anything I'm supposed to be working on...
  10. I appreciate that! I am excited to hear about it. As a Keller alum, I'm very obviously biased towards my own alma mater, but I think their program has really blossomed over the last few years. Musically they have been great for a while, but they lack the visual performance of the elite bands. Last year's show convinced me that Keller has finally figured out how to make a piece of art that can really impact those who watch. I hope they continue to "Ascend" as well. Unfortunately, I now live in Utah, so I won't be able to see the show live, so I want to hear all about it. Same with all of the great bands. I'm planning to follow the live feed throughout the day as I did with BOA Austin and many of last year's contests.
  11. That's exciting! I hope that Timber Creek does well! How did Keller look?
  12. I am far too young to be a former band parent, but I am a former band brother. My sister played in the Keller band from 2004-2006. My whole family went to all of her competitions while she was in it and I've been hooked ever since. It has been over 5 years since I lived in Texas, so I haven't seen any of the recent shows live, but I have enjoyed following this blog anonymously for over a year and have decided to actually create an account finally so I can be involved in discussions. Relevant to the topic, even though our initial reason for following the success of our bands may be gone, a part of us will always be loyal to them because we have seen firsthand and respect the hard work that these students and their directors put into making a fabulous piece of art each year.
