  1. Ive never heard of Lake Jackson. Must be right next to Clute. I noticed that too. Brazoswood did sound great! I didnt think twice about them after they got 5th at McAllen, but they were awesome!
  2. I'm only just realizing that Pearland didnt make finals. Was anyone who watched all day surprised by this? I saw some comments stating that they might be on a trajectory for San Antonio finals.
  3. Oh my goodness. I accidentally left out prosper. That wasnt because I dont think they are good enough, I just legitimately forgot they were in this area. They seem so far north to be with the others. Prosper is definitely on my early list.
  4. Oak ridge right now is playing one of the songs I have in my dream show!
  5. Bridgeland did so well! Are they a new school? I'm not familiar with them.
  6. I think this area is simply more competitive. There are other areas that might have more of the hard-hitters (like area D), but you have a pretty good idea of who is going to make it to state, maybe with one or two competitive spots. In this area, there are like 8 bands that are really competitive for like 4 spots, so it is just really hard to predict. Based on what we have seen, this is what I would say: Keller LD Bell Timber Creek Waxahachie Coppell Duncanville/Haltom I am not counting Haltom out of this at all, but it is hard to give them a spot based on how they seem to be doing right now. I definitely see them fixing whatever is going on though and making this harder. Note that I haven't seen their show yet, so this is all based on their placement at local contests.
  7. Went back and watched Keller and Hebron. I see what you are talking about with Hebron and the mic situation. It was very distracting, and therefore hard to have an opinion on the quality of their show. Keller is sounding and looking great. I really think they are poised for great things this season.
  8. My guess is that once the event ends it wont be available anymore but I really dont know. This is so new to me.
  9. I underestimated Coppell and Wylie. I knew they would both be great, but didn't put either in finals because there just weren't enough spots. We will see if either makes it. I didnt get to watch Keller, so I will have to go back and watch it later.
  10. I really liked the part of Prosper's show where there are the dueling runs between the high notes and the low notes. I dont know how to state this better but hopefully someone gets what I mean. I think Prosper will be successful at GNats if they continue building on what they did today. Also, I really liked Duncanville's opener. They will be hunting for a spot in area B and may very well get a good one. That area is looking tougher and tougher. I was expecting Union to be down after their showing against Bixby and Jenks, but they seemed great to me...
  11. I don't think I ever recall watching Sherman before but they really exceeded my expectations. I agree that we will need to look out for them in St. Louis!
  12. Yes, I use high cam and haven't had any issues. I should have said that earlier.
  13. Coppell looked so much better today! I am really impressed. And I had NO idea that we could rewind! This makes my day so much better!
  14. Someone who is better with technical critiques will have to answer you, but I thought LD Bell did a beautiful job. I really enjoyed their show and think they will do very well here. I had heard that they weren't as strong this year, but I didn't see it.
  15. WOW Reagan! That is why they are one of the best! I love that they are able to be so impactful without needing so many props and backdrops and stuff. Like I enjoy shows that have those, but I also enjoy seeing shows that can draw you in with just marching and playing. And that was GREAT marching and playing.
  16. I got to see it and I liked it. The soloist in Chim-Chim-eree was really fun to watch. I got distracted and didn't even watch the band!
  17. I was about to say the same thing Landry. Keller central was one of my favorites last year because I liked the way they designed their show and they did it again this year. I like that they take things outside of the box. Their drill design is just so aesthetically pleasing in the way it morphs across the field. Music was interesting to say the least.
  18. I think its not that the band kids shouldn't care about how they place at all. I think it's more that they shouldn't get so focused on how others are doing that they lose sight of the things they are trying to accomplish themselves. Competition is healthy, but there needs to be an element of personal growth for each band first and foremost.
  19. Oh no! I planned to wake up in time for Oak Ridge but I forgot to account for the hour time difference. They played john rutter music? I love his stuff!
  20. I guess we will have to have people who are attending keep us updated with their comments!
  21. I agree that no one will guess the finals order correctly.
  22. Normally I wouldnt humor this, but since you directly quoted me I will give you some pleasure of a response. Lake Highlands is a great band. I didn't mention by name every group that I thought was going to be successful, hence the phrasing "some standouts". In my own predictions, I had LH in 5th and winning a caption. I dont think that's exactly disrespectful or far off from how they performed...
  23. I made my own side by side a few weeks ago but I think several things have changed. Also, mine only included ones that I was wanting to see from each of the regionals since I knew I wouldnt be able to see both. I also have some commitments tomorrow so I will be busy much of the day anyways. I will have to be organized to fit everything in!
