  1. I had planned to watch Coronado before they changed their time and accidentally missed them. Made it back as they were leaving.
  2. Some standout groups here include Highland Park, Waxahachie, Sachse, Mansfield, and Frisco Centennial. Overall a pretty good lineup and some good smaller groups, too.
  3. Did you read the explanation about the show? They represent the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria coming to America. I guess there is like a discovery/ exploration undertone going on while reflecting on how we came to be where we are and what our country stands for. Something like that.
  4. I sat there for almost 5 minutes before I realized that the schedule changed and we are on break haha
  5. What a huge show though. It will definitely grow to be very successful, though I must admit I found it almost comical in how ridiculously over the top it was. The clams with soloists in them with quotes being spoken over the top was a bit much. Im curious how much it will be cleaned by the next competition.
  6. I love watching a giant group swarm the field like that!
  7. That's it. I'm caving in and buying a subscription. I am so weak! But in my defense, I did get myself all the way through college without any debt, so I think a little 30 dollar splurge is deserved now that I have less expenses and a steady enough income.
  8. Did Homer Hanna drop?
  9. It is so amazing how much rain you are getting out there.
  10. I am excited for both! I keep thinking that both could make San Antonio finals, but I just dont know where the space would come from! Its crazy!
  11. I'm pretty sure I am going to go with a monthly subscription, at least for DFW- San Antonio, but I am trying to decide if it is worth it to purchase two months and get these first two weeks and also grand nats as well...
  12. I'm sure none of us could possibly think CTJ is anything but stellar. It is true that when any group breaks boundaries and is at the top of their respective field they will face more criticism and questioning than their opponents. I dont think that is a bad thing, but we should remember that in the end, these are students doing everything they can with what they have been given. Also, I think there was confusion with my statement that CTJ is the frontrunner of the uniform movement. I'm not implying that they are the first to do so, but that they are literally the front-runners because there is nobody really ahead of them in the competition so they are the most visible. It looks like Cedar Park has a unique design in uniform this year, too.
  13. I hate that I have to make choices... Especially on the Houston/ dfw regionals day when they are bubble bands performing at the same time and I may miss out on seeing them again if they dont make finals.
  14. No offense intended to CTJ, but I'm not a fan of the style of uniforms they use either. They look so weird... I guess it is a nice flash of color when you watch from REALLY far away, but up close they just look awkward. Also, I am aware that CTJ is not the only ones that use this style, but they seem to be the frontrunners of the movement.
  15. Does it charge months by calendar months or from the date that you start? So if I subscribed today, would one month be until Oct 19?
  16. I am debating purchasing a FloMarching subscription for one or more months this fall. Does anyone have any reviews to share with me? Also, I can't seem to find their pricing anywhere... How much is it for a monthly or yearly subscription?
  17. Yes, I agree that Keller usually peaks late while Bell comes out strong from the gates. Interesting to think about.
  18. Has Keller ever medaled at a BOA event? I feel like they probably have in the past, but I know they havent since 2010. I was just thinking that with Marcus not attending, the opportunity might be there for Keller to pick up their first medal. It's slim, with Cedar Park, Union, LD Bell, and others fighting them for that spot, but possible.
  19. We could use the rain here in Utah. Send it this way! Lots of fires and people evacuated from their homes near me.
  20. YAY! I wonder how much of this decision has to do with the inundation of letters they received?
  21. I finally just sent my (very long and perhaps more intense than originally intended) email off.
  22. I'm curious how much of the attendance at away games is juat the band and families of band members, anyways... Maybe that is why the administration wants you to go. That might account for a large portion of the attendees.
  23. FloMo 2016 still leaves me speechless. Something about that show was perfect. Yeah I remember there was so much talk in the off-season last year about what they were going to do and how they would perform at GNats and stuff. This year, almost no mention of them. I think they will be back at the top of everyone's radars very soon.
  24. Looks like it is shaping into a great contest! Will there be a prediction contest set up for these other marching contests or just the BOA ones?
  25. I'm preparing a letter right now. In my letter I am including the fact that there shouldnt need to be an alternate solution for a band to play at this one game as college football teams rarely travel with their marching bands. Yes it would be expensive to travel with them, but if it truly made a difference in the performance of the team, you can guarantee those teams would spare no expense in traveling with them. But since they don't, it clearly isnt that important for the performance of the team. Yes, it makes for a more fun environment- but I doubt they would be having much fun knowing they are missing out on their own contest.
