"As far as 6A, Duncanville, Reagan, The Woodlands, Marcus, and CTJ hold some of the longest active streaks. Duncanville holds the longest." CTJ hasnt been around long enough to be on this list and technically didnt attend state in 2016. Still very impressive for the short time they have been around. Keller and Coppell have good streaks going. There are probably some good ones in the Houston area going too but I cant be bothered right now to check them all out.

Its been a long week haha. I meant not 2020 as I said in the original post. I edited my post to reflect what I meant. -

I really ought to do more research before I post. Westlake is splitting this coming fall, not 2020. And the director who has experience at Keller is at another school in the same district, Skyridge. See the MFA forums for people who actually know what they arr talking about haha -

Westlake (Utah) looks like it will be making the trip out here this fall. I pass by the school on my way to work every day. I dont know much about the band except that they are growing and improving. The school is in a rapidly growing area (think almost as fast growing as Frisco, but just not as big yet) so there is lots of turnover. I think it is splitting off into a new school in 2020. Also apparently their assitant director did their student teaching at Keller? I don't know anything about it but thats pretty cool. -

It looks like waxahachie has San Antonio on their schedule this year! I cant remember if they have a pattern for attending, but this makes me excited. I really think they can be one to get into finals this year considering how great their last 2 seasons were. -

I was going to say that DFW is basically already there. Austin is a more competitive regional, but DFW goes deeper beyond finalists, so there are legitimate GNats finalist contenders at risk of missing out. Look at prosper's placement this year. If Marcus had come it would have likely been even lower. -

Simply performing the show in competition so many times over the course of a week or two helps them improve, even if there isnt much time for actual practices. Peaking in any performance art is a real thing. The more professional you are you can extend your period of improvement, but there comes a point where your excitement and energy for the show are so intense that they cant be genuinely reproduced again. So it is the goal of bands that go to GNats to reach their maximum intensity at the last performance that matters most. This is why so many big groups save big surprises for GNats. -
2019 BOA Texas (and GN) schedule
LostChoirGuy replied to LeanderMomma's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
I had to reread banddad84's post to understand. It wasnt implying that TC isnt a "Texas Triangle" band but rather that winning the Midland or McAllen regional is significantly less impressive than winning other Texas regionals given the overall placement of the bands that win them at BOA SA. True, but not exactly a new statement. -
2019 5A Area B

67 isn't an unheard of number for region choir from some of the better schools. Dont know about band, but my school usually had at least 40 in the region choir. -
Any clue what the big announcement might be on Dec 19?
