I am not guessing. I searched "(high school name) hs band" and was brought to the band's page. Is there a particular band you're saying I made something up for? Most of these schools had password protected member pages or they were available to look at.

The venue is still TBD on Music For All's site. I think the stadium it ends up being in is going to play into what kind of programs decide to make the trip.

If they do, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't go to GN this year. It's very hard to go State then Grand Nationals right after.

I would put Haltom higher, based on their placements last season (like Atlanta).

I didn't even think about Tarpon coming to SA now that Atlanta is cut... San Antonio gets better every year.

Oof. This year is going to be a little less exciting at TMC if some of those bands chose not to attend. Fingers crossed they stick with TMC.

Forgive me if someone's already responded, but here's my answer. UIL scores shows based on musical and visual merit. This means shows with nice clean lines (visual) and clean technique (both marching and musical) score better. So when schools are in their state year, they tend to have more "boring" shows, as opposed to years like this (a BOA year if you will). As the 6A schools didn't have state this year, shows were "cooler", AKA more of a BOA show. While BOA values music and visual, if you look at the scoring sheet GE has a much bigger chunk of the final score than UIL considers. BOA shows will have big gaudy props (see: CTJ or Tarpon (even though they're not Texan)), really neat ensembles (Reagan), or neat uniforms (Flower Mound). UIL doesn't really care about this.

What do you mean that Vandy and Cedar Ridge have similar styles? I'm not disagreeing, just wondering why you think that. I agree with your rankings. Flower Mound looked to be struggling and Keller performing that show wouldn't have been good.

That's just what I think. BOA judges might feel differently if Wando steps it up in prelims from what I've seen.

Their guard is incredible. Like I've said in another thread (or this one, I can't remember) I'm really not a fan of the show. But wow their guard is just mesmerizing. A tie is a very interesting premise.. We'll see how this plays out Saturday
