  1. Four times Four equals Sixteen. Divided by the Area which equals Pi r squared. Divided by the Derivative of two x plus x squared is approximately the inv of the e which equals point nine nine plus negative x squared minus two y is greater than or equal to theta plus y x minus pi equals one half of the constant of theta divided by the squareroot of pi multiplied by delta y all over e. Equals.......................... (flag noises).... ONE

  2.

Lopez HS from Brownsville won 6A Honor Band the previous cycle.  Their marching record is less successful but they were at the State Marching Contest last year for 5A and in 2016 for 6A.

Brownsville is a border town and Lopez has a 100%+/- Hispanic population with 99% Economically Disadvantaged.

Also, North Shore is 71% Economically Disadvantaged and made 6A State Finals in the previous cycle.

  3. If you can see enough pretty decent stuff and enough pretty not decent stuff in the same show, you can start to suspect. Especially if you can kind of separate into categories where it’s reasonable that one judge would focus on one good aspect, another judge would look st the not so good, and another judge is looking at both.

Exactly this. They actually sounded fairly decent, somewhere between a 1 and 2. But their marching wasn't quite as good; lots of upper body and other individual issues, but they're spacing was also fairly decent. Basically, there was a whole lot of well done stuff, but there were also a lot of low points; it wasn't a consistent 2.
  4. Regions 5 and 20 had their contests this evening.

Before tonight, Area B had a maximum of 38 bands that could qualify for Area. Tonight, there were 8 bands that did not qualify.

That leaves us with a maximum of 30 bands with Regions 24, 30, and 31 still to go. If even a single additional band fails to qualify, Area B will only advance 5 bands to State.

Last year, every band in Regions 24 and 31 received a 1. However, in Region 30, Weatherford received a 2,2,1 in 2017. They did get a 2,1,1 in 2016, though.

This is coming down to the wire and I am biting my nails.

  5. 6A Region 5 results are in. Sam Houston and Trimble Tech got 2's. Everyone else got a 1.

That puts 6A Area B at a max of 30 bands currently. Area B cannot afford to lose any additional bands.

We still need Regions 30 and 31 to go. Last year, all bands in Regions 30 and 31 got a 1 with the exception of Weatherford with a 2,2,1. Two years ago, Weatherford got a 2,1,1.

    This is nail biting.
