Medal contenders I had going in are Vista, Hebron, TWHS, Vandy and Reagan

You could definitely hear some timing issues with the pit and the ensemble. They didn’t have any stick-outs and bad sounds that I heard from the recording though, they really cleaned up from the ballad onward, and that closer performance is probably one of their best runs of it. I’m sure they’ll have a more put together finals performance to leave no doubt, at least as little of it as possible haha

It’s a mistake to call it for Hebron prematurely, even though they’re definitely my favorite out of the bunch for me personally, there’s quite a few bands that are vying and capable of snatching the title from them! Even though I would still have my pick be Hebron haha

Now that I’ve seen and looked at results from previous years, it makes a lot more sense in my head now haha

I usually tend to sit a bit closer, but also within either 40 yard line. I like being up close and personal🔥🔥

Hooo boy, for me it’s definitely on the lower end of that range. The bands in the bubble here(15-20) would make Grand Nats semis with relative ease, it would get more debatable as you go down. Even if you did a top 35 of this competition, you would have to take into account the automatic class qualification spots for all classes that take up spots in Semis as well. I forget exactly how many of those there are though

Trying to predict who wins and medals this event is even more of a fool’s errand than BOASA tbh😂 that’s just UIL for you

I’m bummed out about missing out watching the performances, but when I heard that the streaming provider was changed, I automatically went “nope” in my head. Didn’t wanna pay for another service and the headache that I thought it could potentially cause👀

I would happen to disagree. Aside from Cedar Park, everyone that made finals at BOASA is present here at the contest. And that finals is generally seen as being more competitive than Grand nats finals, even with the likes of ABC, WM, and tarpon often being in attendance. I think the depth of bands here is deeper as well when you get outside of finals imo. I don’t base the strength of a competition only from the strongest groups, especially when there’s an equivalent 12-14 top national groups attending this contest, compared to the 7 or so that make up the top half of a GN finals. There isn’t much of a dropoff when you compare the top halves of each contest from each other, versus when you compare the bottom half of each one, I think the depth of this contest is underestimated. Along with SL Carroll and Prosper barely missing out on state in their respective Area competitions when they are potential grand nats finalists this year in their own right. Just some of my opinions on the matter

🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ Why haven’t I thought of this before, I hate using my phone and constantly cycling between forums along with it to where my battery’s already dying halfway through the day. Might be a good investment for me, purely for my enjoyment of the shows and for capturing some programs more effectively haha

I just hope that instead of being buried and capped in scores by going first, they’re more of a “gatekeeper” or “bellwether” group and set the standard for performance to begin the day🔥🔥

Marcus is gonna top half this contest with relative ease imo

There’s a lot to look at and analyze. Another way to see it is that for that final friday block of panel 1, having three of the top 6 in one block to end the night, it both paid and didn’t pay to be in that block. All of KISD and Leander got grouped so close together. Had they performed at vastly different points of the contest we could’ve seen something totally different

They upped the ante and all were within top 20 WOOOO

That is true, although the first hit doesn’t exactly ring “Bloo” in my ear. Trying to think of who it might evoke though ‘cause I’ve been trying to figure that out!😂 maybe that’s the best we’ve got haha
