  1. That was because they recognized Dan.
  2. But I can eat chicken nuggets!
  3. I'm not talking about any band in particular. I have never heard Martin. The only impression I have of you guys is when you flooded the forums after you beat Bell. I didn't say "your" director. I intended to sound like I was making a generalized statement. If anyone's director picked a poor show, I would be irritated with the director, because they paid money for it and had the final "yea" or "nea" vote. Seriously, I don't have motivation to attack anyone. I am very sorry if it sounded like that.
  4. I didn't mean to say that you guys sucked. I meant to point out the irony that the directors pay Poulan, so it would seem logical to get irritated at the directors, not Poulan. My opinion is biased in favor of Poulan. I played an incredible show by him, and will never forget it. I couldn't tell you any other shows he's arranged, except for SCV, so my knowledge is limited there. Again, sorry.
  5. And there is a difference between composing a show and putting chords together that sound good with woodwind runs.
  6. Fortisimo, perhaps there is a better arranger you would suggest? You know... Maybe I am missing something here. I believe that when you fork over thousands of dollars for a show, you would hear it before you bought it. And if it didn't meet expectations, the arranger would alter it. OR your directors or YOU (you seem smart with music) could alter it. I think if Poulan did crappy work, which he does not if you have heard SCV this year, people wouldn't pay for it. Maybe it's not sub-par work on Poulan's part. Maybe its excellent work for a sub-par band that can't play anything else? Just remember... He's the one making the money and has the experience. When you make thousands of dollars per show and have years of music experience, your argument would be founded. Now it's just cocky and immature, and quite unsupported by the lack of solid facts you have given. Mike's ruling stands. Any more crap and this thread is toast!
  7. Or you could go to both... and have a blast
  8. We're still working on the layout, I promise. It's going to rock. As for predictions, I typed a complete list of modifications and improvements for BOA. Alex just has to program them! Same for Fantasy marching band... it just needs to be programmed!
  9. At least the SAT makes you think... I had fun taking that one. TAKS was just a bore.
  10. I read that as second nature... seriously. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W00t
  11. AKA, 1337. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leet Read under "vocabulary" for w00t.
  12. See... Thats a suprise. I'm so oblivious I don't even know it happened.
  13. I can honestly say I have never been involved in drama, nor do I pay attention to it. I had no idea what it was until someone tried to describe it to me... and I still don't have a good understanding. So trust me, it's avoidable if you try!
  14. Thats my favorite... and the ice cream too!
  15. Well if thats the definition of a relationship from where you're from, thats really sad. That seems like the easiest way to kill a relationship. You have to keep your priorities straight, and logical. Don't screw up your life now, unless it involves chicken nuggets.
  16. Look I've only had one high school relationship, and its still going on. And to counter what whitewing said, no one expected me to have a relationship. Heck, people are still suprised (even me half the time!).
  17. Love is difficult to describe as there is no definition or common consensus on the idea... I would say its just the lack of other emotions to describe how you feel. When you can't describe it, it could be love (Key word is could...).
  18. Haha, you all are funny, yet make valid points. I won't talk about my relationship because that's a little too private for forums, but I will say that she is wonderful and continues to grow on me as the months go on. (No, we aren't miserable) I hate to stereotype, but I'm not in the typical high school relationship that Lustra described (Though I do agree with what you said, so don't get me wrong). Therefore, I probably just have a different perspective on it. I wish all you guys luck. Someday you'll find the person that makes the "stereotypical" relationships offensive (for lack of a better word). And I do agree with Chickora... You'll be in a real relationship where you have to wait to tell someone you love them, and mean it!
  19. I am sorry for the topic posted. It was suppose to be in the Staff forum. Everyone gets two cookies. YAY !!!
  20. Hmm I beg to differ. You wouldn't say that if you were taken
  21. Ours starts with a plated dinner, then we do a mixture of personal recognitions (Region, Solo and Ensemble), stories, jokes, senior colleges, etc. for a while. Following that are the band awards for individuals and sections. Next we have a slide show for our seniors, and maybe a homemade movie. Then the most suspensful event, the announcing of next year's leadership placements. Tryouts are about a month before, so the wait gets to be sort of tense. Everything wraps up with a dance.
  22. Yeah, I don't know why this forum is active. Especially since posts don't even count here. Except for Xenon, because he donates and has the magic of the VIP site.
  23. I would absolutely love for there to be more of a college presence on TxBands. Both me and Alex (the admins) are still in high school, so we are pretty ignorant when it comes to the college world. Also, I would say most of our active members are in high school. And hey, everyone likes Drum Corps! If you have any recommendations or ideas for us to get more involved with college bands, I'd be willing to try anything!
  24. Dan and Andrew, I just want you guys to know that I am in awe at what you do for our site... and for free! Keep up the excellent work!
