  1. Well, we're CP '07 grads, so that's the easiest place for us to find 'generic' photos with no watermark!
  2. Congrats to all of the bands that participated in this year's 4A competition. They were all great performances! Borrowing from our friends at BOA, all the schools are 'winners in life'! Make sure to come back for the live-blogging action during Grand Nationals this weekend! 3. I mean I won't lie, I'm a little biased....
  4. Thanks Josh, we'll see how those Indy bands stack up to Texas bands here in a little
  5. Howdy Students, Fans, Parents, and Directors, This marching season is far from over (we still have Grand Nats!), but we are looking for ways how we can improve TxBands for next year's marching season. If you've visited the website as a live blog reader, guest, or registered forum member, please help us make our website better as we redesign it in the off season. We'd love it if you can answer these questions: 1) What is your affiliation with band (parent, student, former student, etc.)? 2) What feature(s) of TxBands do you use the most? 3) What feature(s) would you like to see TxBands.com implement to cater to you better? 4) How would you like to see our website evolve in the new redesign? 5) Any other general comments? 6) Do you promise to tell all your friends about TxBands.com? Thanks for a great season everyone! Cheers, Travis
  6. No, I'm the Godfather. And he's right. Mistakes happen and we've become better people.
  7. It was a great game, to say the least. Very stressful, but at least it had a better result than the Tech game.
  8. Well, you could buy the DVD's from BOA or UIL. File sharing is illegal :-)
  9. Please, 3:6 took me all of 5 seconds.
  10. Well... Lubbock.... I'll just bite my tongue because I go to UT.
  11. Now I'm going to fail all my finals because I dont study.
  12. You should look in the TxBands directory. Its outdated (will be replaced soon), but a lot of schools at least have a show title that you can start with. Just out of curiosity, do you have any plans for this project?
  13. There was a story in the Daily Texan about UTMB. Over $700 million in damages from the hurricane. The kicker is that they still paid their employees (as they should) even though they couldn't come to work. However, because they weren't in the laboratories, the grants scientists and researchers received could NOT be applied to paying them. Basically UTMB had to lay off 3800 people because they could not afford to keep paying them without the grants. It did say that all of these people would be given priority job placements and assistance finding new places, yet.... wow.
  14. Pokerface, it's the internet and interpretation is limited. It wasn't well placed, as the first time I read the post three minutes ago I had the same reaction. Sarcasm is usually denoted with a tone of voice, something fundamentally absent from a textual message board. What you type is literally interpreted simply by your words, not how you said it in your mind. Now I'm not taking sides here. It's good to hear that you meant it to be sarcastic. But no one overstepped their bounds replying to you. In the end, if your comments prompted such a reaction from so many people, perhaps you should step back and look at yourself. It may not necessarily be their fault that they literally read what you typed. Maybe you just worded your post inappropriately. And seriously... there are worse things than being called a dick. Don't blow one word into a bunch of hullabaloo when its not even worth it.
  15. I'm surprised that this news article doesn't mention the story behind the piece Medea. That seems to play a critical role in the marching design.
  16. Psh, where does it say marching anywhere on our site. The main difference is that in concert season bands aren't competing against each other. And yes, almost everything on the forums and the site is somehow involved with this competition. If you have ideas about what we could do during concert season, let us know!
  17. Hmmm... how are all these videos online already? If txbands officially promoted anything like this the lawyers would be on us like a fat kid on cake.
  18. You know, it's easy to look at the judging discrepancies of UIL and criticize them, but it's a different story to come up with a better system. Should it be like BOA? USSBA? Local contests? Perhaps this is the argument we should be having. Should GE be included in UIL judging?
  19. 2008 State 5A Results 1. Marcus 2. Bell 3. Coppell 4. Cedar Park 5. Bowie 6. Duncanville 7. Richland 8. Churchill 9. Westlake 10. Hebron
  20. Well... yes. It makes sense that a former band member would leave after his band performs. He'd probably want to see his friends and directors.
  21. Scores updates and requests: I have results for State, except for 2007. I will enter those later. Scores Needed (Full finals please) Area A Area B Area C Area D Area E Area F Area G I also know I am missing lots of smaller contests too. If you have full finals for those contests, let me know. If you can find the results on TxBands, that's awesome. Elsewhere is great too.
