  1. I saw this yesterday and thought maybe Houston was getting a 3rd BOA contest. It’ll be interesting to see if some people move over to the North Houston contest. The first time I ever saw Reagan was at North Houston about 6 years ago

  2. Itll be the year my alma mater my school makes state finals, hopefully sooner😢 But I can only see heat being the problem since its such a popular contest, and its a shame that there could honestly be no A groups and maybe 1 or 2 AAs

  4. I’m wondering if extreme heat has anything to do with it? It’s usually incredibly hot at BOA ATX. Makes me wonder if blacking out/blocking off the hottest part of the day on the schedule reduces the amount of performance slots? Just a thought. I don’t even understand why the date hasn’t been announced for it yet 🤷🏼‍♀️

  6. I would imagine so. There aren't really any other close regionals except Austin and the other Houston one, so maybe they'd do that if that's closer? But I'd imagine they still will 100%!

  8. Anyone have any thoughts after seeing some of the show premieres yesterday? I wish we could get some streaming service going for all of the Texas circuits!

  9. Hoping to see the same number of groups enroll into this contest as we saw when it was hosted at the Katy ISD stadium. The past couple years the Katy contest has had over 30 groups enroll and perform throughout prelims. The Katy location on the far west side of Houston was easier to justify for some of those groups to travel to with it being an easy straight shot to get there. I do wonder if the San Antonio and surrounding area groups who would travel to the Katy Contest will elect to pass in lieu of a different contest that isn't such a haul to the south side of Houston. Does anyone have any insight or information on why it was moved to Clear Creek ISD and to the south side of Houston? From going to the other regionals throughout the years in Austin, Dallas, etc. it seemed to me like the Katy location was a pretty solid spot for a contest with the dual stadium lots next to each other, size of the parking lots for trucks/busses, seating capacity, the acoustics (always fun to debate what's the best stadium), the box location, etc.

  11. Both NTCA and TCGC hold their first competitions this Saturday, at Martin HS and Goose Creek Memorial HS. TECA held their first contest this past Saturday. WTCA and WGI hold their first events on February 17th. WGI seems a little later than usual, but to make up for it they're doing 5 regionals in a single weekend, including the Dallas, Houston, and Avon regionals. Dallas and Avon will be streamed on FloMarching. Alas, to my knowledge, none of the local Texas circuit competitions are being streamed. I won't be attending anything, so I'll be waiting for the YouTube videos to drop. Some of the locals here will have to keep me in-the-know!

  12. I’m finding this information interesting. Here are the enrollment maxes for each BOA contest this fall. Of particular interest to me is the 24 band max for Austin. Has this always been the case (I dont think so!)? And if not, why only 24 bands? Has parking become that difficult at the KRAC?! https://marching.musicforall.org/current-enrollment/
