    UIL Area B 2022

Me and a friends personal predictions for this saturday, area has a reputation of being unpredictable but we’ll give it a shot. Also some biases ofc. Area B 1 - Coppell - Always a powerhouse and a clear winner for this area, great this season and coming off of an incredible season last year. 2 - Keller - Musically pretty strong, visually not as much as coppell but keller always knows how to clean up around this time, easy second 3 - Waxa - Haven’t seen much of them, they followed decently well behind keller at DMI in scores, I can see them taking a easy 3rd place here 4 - Timber Creek - Show design isn’t too difficult but they are clean and sound very solid, I can see them taking 4th behind waxa. 5 - LD Bell - Visually great design, then can also clean up well, musically they just aren’t as clean as TC but I can definitely see them taking back a state spot. 6/7 - DVille - Very solid show this year, sounds pretty great, haven’t been able to see how they are visually but I believe they can take back a state spot. 6/7 - SLC - They had rough beginnings early season but I believe they will clean up well in time for their GN performances, just depends on if they can clean up in time for area. 8/9 - KCent - Strong sounding, very much improved and I believe they will get some of the recognition they deserve 8/9 - Lake Ridge - haven’t seen them yet, but if what people say are true then they can definitely give some names a run for their money. 10/11/12 - Haltom, Lake Highlands, Highland Park

  2. The way they are playing now? For sure. But my daughter is looking forward to seeing her old parents and family coming from out of town for tailgaiting 😆

  3. RRISD bands are much more entertaining than aggie football.

  4. As a Vandegrift parent, thank you for the kind words. I think it's going to come down to a shootout between Hebron and Vandy again this year at both BoA San Antonio and UIL State Finals. I have not seen Hebron's show nor have I been able to find video of it online, which I don't think is an accident. Makes me think that they have some really great stuff up their sleeve that we won't get to see until San Antonio. Hebron is just insanely good. Last year, at one of the finals (either BoA San Antonio or UIL, I don't remember), I texted my Vandy Band daughter to tell her how great they did, and her response was, "Thanks, but I hope Hebron wins. They are really good, and they're all really nice." I love how much these bands support each other. Reagan has a great show again this year. And they are only going to get better, so I don't think they can ever be ruled out. We usually meet up with CTJ a couple of times before San Antonio, but they changed their usual competion schedule this year, so we haven't seen them. Kind of bummed about that, because I really want to see their show. I love watching them. I did see video of their show this year, and frankly, they're awesome; and it's a great show. Much more low-key than their usual shows, but it's entirely possible that it won't stay they way. They typically keep adding things until the very last competition - it's insane! I remember seeing them at BoA San Antonio last year, then watching them at UIL Finals 3 days later, and was like, "Wait a second, they didn't do that last time!" It takes a really talented group to be able to pull that off. Going to be a fun weekend for sure.

  5. They are predicting 1-2 inches of rain for the DFW area Friday morning-Saturday morning. Could make for a damp Saturday. Have to make every performance count.

  6. Plano Senior has a really nice show too. No kids in school there anymore but I have seen their show multiple times and really liked it.

  7. Super happy that this will be at my current home at Baylor! The Golden Wave Band is trying to hopefully do a standstill performance between prelims and finals if we can get enough people to perform as we were told last week, but if not I plan on attending as much as possible! Never seen a military marching contest but I’m super excited to see!

    UIL Area E 2022

this area is just too unpredictable and considering we don’t know how much improvement each band has made in the last week it’s hard to make concrete predictions except for the top two and after all we aren’t the UIL judges

  9. Both Poteet and North Mesquite have actually had their enrollments decrease. Poteet from 1850 to 1650 and NM from 2850 to 2150. Both due to a new technical high school opening in MISD, and NM also had their attendance zone shrunk. Lastly, both have little land left in their zones to build housing so it's unlikely they'll move up to 6A ever again with the cutoff increasing every year.

  10. I've been seeing alot of what people are saying about predictions and i don't think it's fair to predict a contest I'm going to compete in but i also think yall will be very surprised as to how area will turn out. I have seen all the recordings everyone has sent and i have seen alot on my own and i do think the predictions for some of these bands are very interesting... I'm really excited to see how it turns out though and i wish good luck to everyone competing!!

    UIL 5A Area C 2022

Me too, I am unsure of why they deserved the bottom spot. Their General Effect impresses me and their playing sounds great imo. Not sure what they did wrong.

  12. Sleep is overrated, spend more time on the video game console you brought. (This is a joke you should seriously get sleep above everything else)
