2025 BOA San Antonio Super Regional (Nov. 7 & 8)

Still waiting on Broken Arrow to venture down. But in the meantime (or next year), I’d love to see Bentonville at BOA SA! Maybe if they make finals again at GN this year, they will consider going to San Antonio!4 points -

Texas 4A Area C 2025 marching band predictions.
bassboneman and 2 others reacted to TexasStrangers for a topic
Figured I would put my two cents in. It's okay to have predictions, we can all agree to disagree if we choose to do so. Yes, I'm sure most of us that are frequent visitors to this page have favorites for one reason or another. I think the problem that people don't understand is there are numerous bands in 4A that are good and potential state shows. However, until I see Celina get beat by a 4A at a competition it's hard to go against them because they are on another level. I think what some people don't understand is that in 4A there are probably 3-4 schools that you could argue could compete in 5A for a State Title. Just like in 3A there are probably 2 schools that could beat most 4A's at the State Level. Unfortunately in 4A Area C it is probably one of the toughest Area's to get out of especially with the realignment that took place last year. There is simply not enough spots for all the bands to advance to State so that leaves some bands on the outside looking in that in the past could of had a chance to make state. I think if all of us went to a musical judge training session we would all probably understand what separates "great" bands from "good" bands and understand that there is a huge gap between bands that are "Great" and bands that are "Good". To this day to be honest I still don't know the scoring difference between BOA and UIL. Yes it looks great on the field but do we all truly understand the scoring system and how some band's music is considered to be difficult and some bands with a good show have music that is not that difficult but it looks good. If you went to Area and watched all the Finals performances you could tell there was a huge difference in the schools that advanced to State. However, to the casual fan you don't see the little things which then lead to bigger things that prevented schools from getting where they wanted to go. Yes, we can all sit here and predict the usual suspects to make it to State because the odds say they probably will but it's a long way to go and everything is moved up a week this year due to state competition held the first week in November instead of the 2nd week like last year. The first several weeks most of the shows will be lucky to maybe have their 1st/2nd movement ready to play. Most schools don't have their shows fully ready until the last 2-3 weeks before Regionals and even then they are still tweaking it. I know Farmersville, North Lamar and PG and Pine Tree are all gonna battle in Mineola on Oct 4 in the Iron Horse Classic which I am leaning on going to that over the "Sounds of the Fall" in Princeton so I can get a preview.3 points -

Rockhilll is going to BRING IT this year. I feel like this is the first year where I have actually believed that rock hill is going to not only make finals, but even have a chance of breaking top 5. Rockhill seems like a different unit not just through the performance but even through the visual reps and music that they played at their parent preview. They WANT it this year. If they can keep this up throughout the season this is a long shot but they have a chance at even making state. After a not so great season last year, Rock Hill has turned up a gear to try to redeem their legacy and try to break records one at a time.2 points -

North Mesquite, Poteet, Mt. Pleasant, Kaufman is what I would think but its way too early to tell. Not sure anyone will crack the top 25 at state but you never know. Would love to see a newcomer in finals.1 point -

I won’t add anything to the argument other than a few points to back up some of the word that’s going around. For context my son goes to Walnut Grove and my other goes to Prosper High. Walnut is in their second year with their director Reagan Brumley who was the president of the bandmasters association and has been shown to be one of the best directors in the state. For example he built up highland park high school to placing 1st in state prelims in 2019. Furthermore in concert band they outscored Lebanon Trail in honor band and had an astounding 3 ensembles make the music for all national concert band convention in Indianapolis. On top of that it’s their first time having a designed show because both prior years there was no head band director to help start design in February. And from what I’ve seen they’re going to bring the heat this year… if it’s executed correctly. Any school has a chance and that’s the awesome part about where we live. Every single kid is so talented and that’s what makes the band world so entertaining. So good luck to everyone but especially good luck to the prosper fam!1 point -
2025 Don Hanna Memorial Marching Band Contest (10/4)

Seems pretty legit, the top 10 at this contest is gonna be great and also that battle for the podium is gonna be sick. Might not be the largest contest of the week but will be fun to see this battle go down.1 point -

This comp is wild. 1. Flower Mound 2. Hebron 3. Wakeland 4. Coppell 5. Prosper 6. Waxahachie 7. Timber Creek 8. Keller 9. Lone star 10. Aledo 11. LD bell 12. Keller Central Flower mound winning is 100 percent a high possibility. They’ve done it before not too long ago at this exact comp. Those past 2 years feel like something changed where they might go back to just straight up being state champs contenders. Hebron isn’t invincible. Still though Hebron will probably win. People keep sleeping on Prosper like they didn’t make grand finals and almost state finals. Wake land also is very clean and they show up when it matters. With the Keller’s. Timber Creek has a habit to beat Keller all season except San Antonio (happens every year it’s weird). The tradition will most likely continue. Keller is still amazing though.1 point -

I got the privilege to make it to Rock Hill and Walnut Grove high school’s parent showcase and I’m very impressed to say the least. Rock Hill and their show was a big step up creative wise from past years and it finally feels like they’re stepping away from crowd pleasers and heading towards more competitive shows like they had in 2022. Also enjoying their visual aspects which I feel like struggled last year. I also really like their trombone parts (I’m slightly biased). Walnut Grove in the same way surprised me. To be frank they haven’t been the best since their opening in comparison to other PISD schools but watching the content in their first two parts was really entertaining and challenging. It feels like they’ve finally created a show that represents their program. On top of that a parent over there was talking about how they had 3 ensembles qualify for music for all’s convention in Indy. So I’ll be curious to see how that’ll transfer from concert band to marching! Lastly, I think if performed to the best of their ability both of these schools could make a deep impact into finals!1 point -
