One group I'm really interested in seeing progress in is Sachse, being that their current director won 4A Honor Band during the last cycle. 6A is a different animal though, especially since they will have to compete against other Region 2 groups - I'd be shocked if they make the state round, but if they did pretty well in the area round, that would be a success in my eyes.
-
i mean i don't know, these are simply gut feeling predictions and how i feel about each band.
-
I thinks that's low-key possible, but you never know how things are going to go with bands like birdville, Richland, and Belleville, losing a large senor class.

Hebron produced 22 6A Band All-Staters this cycle. I think they're the front-runner for Honor Band again. I remember when producing 10+ was extremely rare. Actually, now that I've checked, it still is. I just typed in like 60 different schools, including a few of the 5A ones that have students audition in 6A, and I only found 4 double-digiters. Hebron (22), Vista Ridge (12), Westwood (12), and The Woodlands (10). Hebron really has just figured it out, I guess. My other pick for 6A Honor Band would be Vista Ridge. 12 All-Staters, but more importantly, their new director is middle school concert band king, Robert Herrings. The same principles apply to high school concert band, and he obviously has a great ear. Beyond those two, I would add the few that have done very well the past couple cycles, like Flower Mound, Coppell, and College Park. Vandegrift, too, although they sat it out last cycle.

I'd assume it has to do with parking or with stadium layout. Mesquite memorial is one of the worst band stadiums because of it only having 1 entrance/exit so the pit coming in and off of the field run into each other and its a mess. I've preformed there a few times and it's such a hassle especially if your rival school is on the field pushing against you, the words you hear from them could get you instant banned on this site.

Well, the reigning (2022-2025) 4A State Champs for 4 consecutive years & another band very close behind them are moving to 5A. Enjoy!

2026 BOA Schedule
utee94 replied to LeanderMomma's topic in Non-UIL: Upcoming Contests, Events, and Festivals
Plus so many of the good San Antonio bands. I'll be really sad if Austin is gone. I'd expect most of the major Austin area bands to pick it up in San Marcos if it's a week later, on that 9/26 date. But if it's 2 weeks later or more, then it's possible some of them would just bail out and wait until TMC. I know a lot of people don't like that early 9/19ish kind of date, but I actually do. I like to get the early guage on each band's progress and see how things are shaping up. -

I don't know much about them but I'm sure consistently missing state by 1 to 2 spots since moving into 6A HAS to be driving Jordan crazy!! They'll be sure to make it within the next couple of years, they'll just have to keep going on the upward path that they are

i love this but we know how area f is grapevine is gonna get 6th, colleyville will magically make state and for some reason aledo will come back and get 1st. For realises though its time that we see some change within those top 5 (hopefully) top 6. I truly believe some things could happen this year like people not making state or some new bands making state for the first time I'm really just going based off my gut. 1st CEN10 just a straight powerhouse of a band without the pressure of aledo stopping them (I have them making top 5 at state too) 2nd Richland another powerhouse of the area f group and always consistent as well. I could see them going neck and neck for 1st 3rd grapevine ik this is crazy but hear me out, they've been on the rise/grind for a few years now I believe if they WANTED TO they could take down midlo and their sister school colleyville this year. 4th Midlothian overall consistent and after the state mishap we will forsure see them in state again coming back for state finals. 5th birdville this is my first really hot take but we could see birdville in state this year. I believe that they could really shake up area f this year and even place higher but once again this is my gut feeling. 6th colleyville After 2 years of magical state runs I believe its over. They will be close but not enough to pass the line UNLESS 6 bands advance 7th azle they've been in that realm of 7th or 8th and its gonna stay that way this year they have good shows just not state shows 8th Chisholm trail I WANT THEM TO SUCCEED badly. I believe they will be at the top of area f and even state in the next years. They have tons of potential. 9th saginaw this is another band that I want to see make area finals in my lifetime (2022 is the last time they made it) If any year was the year to make it then its this year 10th fossil ridge straight 10s soooo straight 10s once again. They r okay maybe Mansfield could over take them (most likely)

This area doesn't seem to be fond to those not named Pearland... (I'm joking, but seriously what happened??? Those judges ran Foster over)

everything going on in 6A Area C and 5A Area C 5A: - Red Oak moves up - Kaufman moves down - adds Rowlett, Garland, Mesquite, and Lancaster 6A: - Rowlett, Garland, Mesquite, and Lancaster moves down - adds Red Oak -
With a net gain of +1 for this area, we would only need one more band to get a 1 at region to advance six bands to state, assuming everyone else gets 1s. Here's what that could look like, based off of last years results (with a touch of my own opinion): 1. Burleson Centennial 2. Richland 3. Midlothian 4. Grapevine 5. Colleyville Heritage 6. Azle* 7. Birdville 8. Chisholm Trail 9. Fossil Ridge 10. Saginaw 11. Joshua** 12. Arlington Heights** * = would make state if there are 12 finalists ** = would make finals if there are 12 finalists It's Grapevine's time to finally make it. They were performing and scoring better than Colleyville Heritage the entire season, only to be overtaken at the 11th hour. That was heartbreaking, but it should given them some extra motivation for next season. Could also throw Mansfield Legacy somewhere in the 9-12 range.

fun facts about 5A Area C poteet has been going to state every time since 1990 after moving down from 6A to 5A Lakeview Centennial has gone to state

I am Dr Bill, the (perhaps only) academic researcher interested in the “real life” Professor Harold Hill (a fictional character created by Meredith Willson whose story matched almost perfectly his lifelong friend, “Professor” Bob Leach). In the mid 1930’s, Bob suddenly left his home in central Iowa for what were truly wrenching personal reasons, having to do with the disappearance of his father along the train tracks after a “gig” to which Bob had invited his father (Durwood), a locally renowned violinist. Bob was a famous conductor in a town thirty miles east of Ackley and Bob had also hired a pair of teens in Ackley for that Thanksgiving (1934) gig. The teens dropped Durwood across from the train tracks in a snowstorm and Durwood was not seen until early in 1935 when a pair of railroad employees saw a black case poking out of a snowbank, dug it up to find a violin, then dug more to locate Durwood’s frozen body. Since “Professor” Bob was one of the two most renowned band leaders in Iowa (the other being his other lifelong Iowa friend, Karl King), Bob leaving Iowa and his entire life and family to go to San Antonio to take over some band there seemed a mystery until I had actually traveled to Iowa and read in the Ackley Iowa town paper archives from 1933-34 about the strange disappearance with headlines like: “where is Durwood?” Professor Bob moving to San Antonio (and eventually to northern Houston where he started selling musical instruments to Texas school band programs and bring a tremendously good clinician to the best school bands in Texas) is how Bob became known in Texas as the real-life Professor Harold Hill (a fact which the elitists in the northeastern U.S., and fraudulent publications like Wikipedia, have continuously rejected due to somewhat incomplete documentation and an arrogant attitude towards “backwoods” places like Iowa and Texas). When did Bob Leach start at the community band in San Antonio - I am thinking it was sometime in 1935?
