Lone Star: hard to say where they are currently! They are definitely a finalist-caliber band, it all depends on how immersed one can be with the subject matter of traffic gridlock!😂

but yeah, they’re a fantastic group, chaotic, fun and exciting musical moments abound. Wish y’all luck in getting to finals!

Honestly finals feels like a lock for them - it’s if they can break into the upper placements I think they’re fighting for.

Ik! It's kind of hard to know where to put them. Amazing show, but I wonder how it will translate in terms of GE

Wakeland: a band that has their musician-athletes carry a huge load every moment of their show, probably the most visually demanding show of the day so far by a substantial margin, ARROWS AND ARROWS EVERYWHERE…and they were pretty good musically too haha

Down for a Euph solo anytime, anywhere, especially that Bergersen piece to open the show, went all Phantom 2022 on that one and I appreciate that🫡

Wakeland was very clean and energetic. I was especially impressed with their visual performance. This show concept has been done 1 million times, but they found a way to make it completely engaging. I was definitely very wrong when I called their drill easy in August, lol.

Wakeland: A sense of direction- I don't know what to say other than Wow! I'm in awe every year of this program, as they just make it look so freaking easy! Just such a rich, powerful ensemble sound, wonderful soloist, incredible percussion, which by the way looks so young yet they are just ripping through their music, guard was fantastic, so much clean drill and the GE is just crazy. Definitely will be the AAA champions and probably sweep captions. I just speechless right now, could honestly see them over Coppell. Wow Wakeland, just wow. I'm beyond excited to see this next weekend at prosper.

Wakeland’s visual is absolutely unmatched so far today, not a foot out of time to be seen.

How Wakeland manages to pull off all of those complex curvilinear drill forms is beyond me! You just can’t predict what’s coming next. And all of the different voices in the ensemble speak so well, you can hear every section clearly. 
 

my favorite musical moment is the sustain forte-piano in the ballad because it’s unique and challenging for a large ensemble to pull of so well together

Marcus’ show is kindof different for them, and I love it. Those weird pitch bends in the woodwinds are so so cool. Then that percussion feature!!!!! So. Freaking. Good. The ballad showcases that typical Marcus sonority.

Marcus: Above the noise- HELLO MARCUS!!! I mean HOLY COW, THAT WAS INCREDIBLE!!! They sound so much better volume wise than they ever did last year! Guard was on fire, that percussion, don't even get me started! Such a huge, rich sound! Soloist were just fabulous, and they were just ripping through that music like it was a piece of cake! If they are 2nd, it wouldn't be surprised yall, after seeing flomo last weekend at Wylie, they could definitely take them, but if they don't it should be super close. Amazing job Marcus!!!

Southlake Carroll: Le Vie est Belle- such a beautiful performance from Carroll! Really loved the soloist throughout, great sax ensemble in the ballad, and just a really great sound all around! Guard was very good, and my goodness that percussion is huge! Definitely a finalist contender, great job SLC!

They probably have a better finals performance in store as well. It’s tough to disagree with their sound palette, even if they injected a bit more chaotic energy than they typically do! The flag features in the ballad will also be more effective under the night lights as they were last week! They are in the mix with everyone today!

I totally see Forney higher up, I think maybe the early morning bias got me but their show was COOL. Trinity is my next out as well, it’ll be a nail biter for them and Sachse on the bubble.

Yeah Id say I agree, everyone else was just “finalist potential”, but I think Forney should be in pretty comfortably and Lonestar was great musically and visually, my biggest concern for them is GE, but I think they most likely will get in, but I’m just happy I’m not a judge, definitely don’t envy them

I noticed this too. A bit more spice is in their composition this year. Lol. yet they still have that clean, classical feel that’s characteristic of their style

Surprise surprise, there’s plenty finalist potential groups here! That whole final block is full of them! There should definitely be some disagreement here amongst ourselves as to who’s in!😂

at least there will be when the final verdict is revealed…
