Hard Core Band Fan Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 It might just mean that your internet connection is less stable, but I'm no expert lol. That's usually what caused my similar issues. Last post regarding this - I'm an IT professional and am well aware of the quality of my Internet connection, which is actually very good. I pay quite a bit to ensure that. Not a factor in this issue. Quote
Rubisco Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 Loved Keller Central's music. Visual wasn't always clearly defined, but I thought it was interesting. Quote
littlejaw Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 First off, heck Yeah Keller! That music grooved like crazy and they played so well on the move. Now that definitely was not the visual execution we are used to from Keller so I hope it doesn't take them out of finals but that was a great show. Quote
Rubisco Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 Keller was fantastic. There was some phasing between the pit and the woodwinds at the beginning that gave me pause, but it was quickly dispelled. So much wonderful playing. Loved the end of the opener when the drill pulls apart into those two arrows. Ballad is definitely by Carol Britten Chambers and had a CTJ feel to it. I do wish it had a melody that felt a little bit more complete. As it stands, it sounds like an extended motif, but the playing is so beautiful that I didn't mind it all that much. Some lapses in the visual performance throughout, but I'd be surprised if it's enough to keep them out of finals. Quote
Rubisco Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 Looks like the body bags are coming back into style. Last time I recall seeing those was PCEP's 2002 Elasticity show, although I'm sure they've been used since then. Quote
Rubisco Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 No Timber Creek until later. But I want frogs right now! Quote
littlejaw Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 The Mandarins and Blue Devils both used body bags this summer. Though I did hear that Keller had body bags lined up and the the drum corps season happened and it made it look like they were copying BD or the Mandarins. Quote
Rubisco Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 Oak Ridge giving me super LD Bell 2008 The Quest vibes. Quote
shortie65 Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 Looks like Timber Creek's semi broke down - hence the delay for them. Quote
ChristopherRoden Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 Musically Oak Ridge is very impressive, huge curvilinears are hard to clean but still very impressive! Quote
Rubisco Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 I think Oak Ridge is improving every year and could see themselves in finals in the coming years. Huge wall of sound to start off the show. Lots of impressive playing sprinkled throughout. Goes from Bell to Star of Indiana 93 with the Bartok and back again. I think they could work on developing a style that is more unique to them. Not all of those long elegant forms really clicked, but I appreciated the effort. Quote
Rubisco Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 Looks like La Joya is trying to recapture some past home team football glory. Quote
Marching Observer Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 Looks like La Joya is trying to recapture some past home team football glory. Baseball glory. 1964 Regional State Championship team. Quote
Rubisco Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 Keller is definitely one of those band hotspots. I think that Timber Creek might be the next big thing. Quote
Rubisco Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 Looking forward to seeing Pearland. I heard lots of good things about them from Conroe! SIMON 1 Quote
Hard Core Band Fan Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 Keller is definitely one of those band hotspots. I think that Timber Creek might be the next big thing. There are so many bands on the move each year - Cy-Fair, Oak Ridge, Keller Central, Timber Creek just to name a few and it is really exciting. Keller and Hendrickson have, in my opinion, already moved in to the consistent finalist-caliber bands in the last few years. Hendrickson is definitely ready for the Grand Nationals and Keller has already been there and done that. I think we may have a couple of upsets this year for the finals. Predicting who will make the bottom half is the most difficult this year than any other that I can think of. BluebariPancake 1 Quote
LeanderMomma Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 My favorites of the first block are: LD Bell Keller Timber Creek I can't decide what makes Keller better than Bell! Quote
LeanderMomma Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 No Timber Creek until later. But I want frogs right now! You're on a roll Rubisco. Where have you been?! Quote

Rubisco Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 Really digging this opening set from Pearland. Quote
ChristopherRoden Posted November 4, 2017 Posted November 4, 2017 The whole opening speed up is very effective imo Quote

When an ad pops up at a weird time, I hit the refresh and the feed goes back where it belongs! Very annoying! Quote
