Popular Post TexasStrangers Posted October 23, 2025 Popular Post Posted October 23, 2025 Every effort will be made to complete both Prelims and Finals (if applicable), but marching band is an outdoor activity, and dangerous weather cannot be ignored. Light precipitation alone won’t cause a delay or cancellation of a performance. However, lightning, heavy rain, or high winds could cause a contest to be postponed or rescheduled. The priorities will be as follows: PRIORITY ONE is student and audience safety. Weather and lighting will be electronically monitored, and in case of danger, the Contest Director will evacuate the field and stands. It is possible the delay could be 30 minutes or longer. The event will not continue until conditions are safe. The decision of the Contest Director is final. PRIORITY TWO is to complete Prelims competition. In case of weather delay, every effort will be made to allow all bands to perform in Prelims on the scheduled contest day. In the event there is mist or drizzle, but no lightning detected in the area, bands will be asked to perform. A weather delay may be announced if it can be determined (with some certainty) that the precipitation will move out of the area in a timely manner. If a director chooses not to have his/her band perform under these conditions, there will be no re-scheduling, and that group will forfeit the opportunity to perform. If weather is too severe to complete Prelims, the alternate contest date will be used. The posted schedule will be followed as closely as possible. PRIORITY THREE is to complete Finals competition. However, according to the UIL C&CR, under extenuating circumstances such as severe weather that prevents completion of Finals performances, the Contest Director may declare Prelim results to be the final contest and certification to the State Marching Contest. Final decisions concerning delays, cancellations, and rescheduling will be made by the Executive Secretary in consultation with the UIL State Director of Music. lost, hebronglazerisnotright23 and Eram97 2 1 Quote

TexasStrangers Posted October 23, 2025 Posted October 23, 2025 I want to be positive but it's not looking good for Saturday. Yes, some of the models for Area C are showing a line of storms late Friday night and should clear around 9am Saturday but then throughout the day there is going to wave after wave of storms coming across as an upper Low is going to be dragging across the State throughout the day with it finally passing through towards the end of the day on Saturday. Sunday looks to be fine. bassboneman 1 Quote

It’s all these karens and timmys that bring umbrellas to hot and sunny competitions and sit right in front of me and open the umbrellas obstructing my view! I have no issue with the umbrellas between shows but for the love of God put them down before performances. Whether is it hot or raining, you'll be OK for 8 minutes yayband914, JFNDOWBFAN, Chippy and 4 others 6 1 Quote

Tubalord11 Posted October 23, 2025 Posted October 23, 2025 Do we know when each/all areas will be moved to Monday? Think I saw tonight they’ll be a final decision tonight? Quote
waynet2010 Posted October 23, 2025 Posted October 23, 2025 (edited) If Area A gets postponed, which I think the weather is going to hold up throughout the day to allow for it on Saturday, it would be moved to Sunday according to the UIL website. This is from Region A website Be advised that we are monitoring the possibility of rain on Saturday, October 25. Bands will continue to march in light rain. We will initiate delays for heavy rain, lightning, or dangerous winds. If the contest cannot continue, we will push to the INCLEMENT WEATHER DATE - October 26. BANDNERD67 Posted October 23, 2025 Posted October 23, 2025 Anyone have any updates on 6A Area B? Quote
TexasStrangers Posted October 23, 2025 Posted October 23, 2025 Something will probably have to change 4A Area C (Lindale) and 2A Area C (Mineola) both have "if inclement weather" on the same day 10/25 at Lindale in the indoor practice facility. So, if weather causes a problem somebody will have to be moved. The best solution to the problem would be to move everything to Sunday. The forecast is mostly sunny with 73 as a high. Yes, this might cause students to get home late Sunday night but this would be a better option then Monday where the negatives outweigh the positives. Quote

Mike McBandiel Posted October 23, 2025 Author Posted October 23, 2025 From 6A Area F: THE DECISION ABOUT USING THE ALTERNATE WEATHER DATE FOR AREA F MARCHING (MONDAY 10-27) WILL BE MADE IN THE AFTERNOON OF 10/23. Looks like we'll find out later today if this area is getting postponed (seems likely since most of the Houston areas have been postponed) Quote
Tailgate88 Posted October 23, 2025 Posted October 23, 2025 I just watched the latest weather forecast from the noon news and their projected timeline shows the rain moving through the Houston area early Saturday morning and clearing out by 9:00ish. Then scattered showers throughout the day. I’m glad I’m not the one having to make the call on whether to postpone or not. Quote
BravoBand Posted October 23, 2025 Posted October 23, 2025 I believe it's now official that all of the Houston Areas (E, F, I) have been moved to Monday. BandAlumMom 1 Quote
Tubaplaya2011 Posted October 23, 2025 Posted October 23, 2025 According to a director in 4A Area B, they’re staying with Saturday with NO CHANGES. Quote

Last few minutes of VA's performance there was rain and the entire Paris performance there was rain. I felt bad for the kids Quote
