Still wondering if we are ever going to see Brandies pull it off. It’s always so sad bc I love LT and Westlake but to always be the first left out….wish they could take more

Brandeis has fallen back a little recently but the two bands I’ve had my eyes on are O’Connor and Stevens. I think if they landed the right director there could be a lot of great movement there.

I mean, they’ve been 5th every year except 2022 since Covid, but I do agree about O’Connor, they’ve had some great shows recently

Heard the music for Brandies this year. It is by far the most demanding and most impressive show the school has had to date.

Stevens, Taft, and O'Connor, and Clark are all kinda at the same level. Sotomayor is still kinda establishing itself, but those kids have proven themselves. Taft has been right behind Brandeis at area the last couple of years, so I have no reason to believe it should be any different.

If Brandeis truly has fallen back (which I'm not accepting at face value and I'd need evidence like a director switch), I just don't see any NISD band or Steele or Del Rio beating out LT or Westlake.

It's a shame really. I'd be willing to bet Brandeis could place in the high teens at state. But better bands than them don't even make it in other areas.

In theory, if NISD were allowed to build more schools (which they're not since they've been told they'd need to split the district), we could see more bands move to state.

Brandeis would probably not place in the high teens probably in the 20s.

Be interested to see how Del Rio does in this year’s Area contest. They’ve been 6th in 21, and 23, and were 7th in 22. I know they are coming out strong with a vengeance after their non-finals appearance last year. They are out for blood.

any band that wants to advance out of this area would have to beat one of Vandy, Vista, Westlake, or LT. I know someone has to break through someday, it just feels hard to envision that happening soon. Each of those bands are such powerhouses that they’d comfortably do well even with a “bad” run. I think it’s more likely either realignment or resizing moves new bands in/existing advancers out, or increases the number of state advancers from this area.

Lake Travis definitely seems beatable and last year it almost happened. Brandies was 1 point behind LT for prelims. It seems a breakthrough is very possible. If Brandies is even remotely better than last year then LT can’t afford to just remain complacent. we’re in for a battle coming October.

Brandies also had a really good percussion performance at the Thunder in the hills competition.  Maybe this is the year?

It may just be. I personally haven't seen anything for their show this year, but it could still be really close, especially with the new judging format.

It almost happened because Lake Travis was slacking. Sorry, but NISD won't be advancing to state any time soon.

A 5th state spot is needed very badly for this area though. Too much great talent to not be seen at that state level. This is definitely the hardest area behind area D.

You need to get over it. Contests like this are very unfair to poor schools much like how TMEA 6A All-State is unfair to poorer students.

Isn’t that what exactly what I just said. If they keep “slacking” then there is huge margin for a change. And also this is not an issue with not having money or anything. Bands like cedar ridge and even McNeil don’t have crazy amounts of kids or money compared to the giants. It’s about how bad they want it. You aren’t graded on props or GE at area. Brandies also isn’t poor, their located near Helotes one of the nicest areas in San Antonio.

Helotes isn’t a rich area by any means LOL

LT will make sure they beat Brandeis no matter what. Slacking or otherwise. It depends on how much of a threat Brandeis is. LT at their best beats Brandeis every time.

A lot of bands really want to make state but they never make it because of bands like Vandegrift and Hebron. It is clearly about money.

Professional hater for what. It’s just a bunch of kids having fun. We can all tell that you go to or are associated with lake travis and are just afraid of what might happen if Brandeis actually does beat y’all. It’s about time that an NISD school goes to state.

NISD has been to state numerous times and I'm not associated with LT. I'm just saying that Brandeis has a very low chance of beating LT. Almost 0.

After what I saw Saturday LT needs to really improve the show to be a lock. It's early still but it wasn't a great showing on Saturday. Westlake on the other hand really impressed me
