As far as early looks for Area J for 6A goes, I would say Wylie has my current vote for spot 4. However, thats nowhere near set in stone, as McKinney, Prosper and Braswell had good performances as well yesterday, and Prosper did place higher than Wylie, but I think as far as UIL scoring goes, Wylie looks strong. Will be interested to see how this battle develops leading up to Area Finals. 2. Definitely confused about the SLC situation. IMO thought it would be bottom half of finals when I watch, but not outside of finals. Again, there is subjectivity here, but thought this was strange. 3. 5A Area B...This is going to be very interesting come area day. I didn't think some of these bands had their strongest performance of the season, but also didn't think the scores would shake out like this. As far as current thoughts...Would say Wakeland, Lone Star, and LT are state locks IMO, but that 4 spot...Not a clue. All I will say is, Walnut Grove deserves a spot in that conversation. Would've said Reedy or MN has my vote, followed by Argyle and WG. But again, this will be very close. 4. Forney had my favorite show and music of the competition from a design perspective! Tubalord11 Posted October 12, 2025 Posted October 12, 2025 Also, as far as Marcu's final's run, it was honestly life changing. I didn't get to see above the noise live, so this was easily my best life experience of from them since seeing The Missig Piece. The intro with the multiple soloists playing into that opening hit sets such a mysterious vibe and then it's just the sound of heaven. Percussion, unreal. I had seen the feature from their HEB perc comp run but seeing it live was a different experience. And then the ballad...was having to hold back tears during finals. They just continue year-after year to produce some of the best sounding ensembles with full emotional effect. It's going to be a monster of a show come grand-nats, they are definitely in the hunt for that music caption. WanderingTraveler 1 Quote

Idk about their placement maybe a little bit too high I think schools like reedy and McKinney north should’ve placed higher than them but things happen but overall they’re good just need a good amount of cleaning to take it to the next level Quote

I have a very common first name and it was always so cruel when at all state contests they would read off the names and I'd hear my name and have to wait to find out if it was actually me. Quote
