Little Elm-Spy Games: What a fun show! Visually was super impressed. Plenty of forms like the eye and gun scope, and plenty more. Guard was wow, but not surprised coming from the Open Class champions!! Soloists were fantastic, loved the tuba duet, and the C-net singer in the ballad, though wish I could have heard her more. Percussion feature was super strong. Brass had some solid moments but some inconsistency in tone and volume, need to clean that. Overall really great show from Little Elm!

The way they are entering the field is really unique! Love the opener! Fantastic job to the french horn soloist in the beginning! HELLO PROSPER!! That first big hit was really good! The visuals look really cool. The articulation in the brass sounds amazing! The quartet sounded great! Fantastic Job to the duet in the slow movement. Sounded fantastic! That big hit in the slow movement sounded nice! Felt it ended abruptly, but sounded amazing regardless. The visuals look so good! I think they could possibly sneak into finals at state this year if they keep up this momentum! Amazing performance Prosper HS!!

Prosper-Odyessy: WOW! Horn soloists in the opener were sooo good, loved how visually you could feel the conflict between the two sides. Huge ensemble sound in the opening hit and throughout. WW small ensemble was fantastic, and the duet in the ballad with the oboes (I think) sounded like concert band material. Visually lots of GE and super clean, theme was very clear, loved the drill during the drum break. Clearly not finished with it but yeah that was incredible, definitely could medal tonight, fantastic job Prosper.

Great job Prosper nice opening hit...... great sound...only thing im going to pick at is the lines.. they need to work  to hit those diagonals.... amazing job... fluidity is amazing  ...

Liberty:

Im forgetting the instrument name's (they are percussion instruments), but unique to see percussion as the opening duet! Nice first hit! Great job to the trumpet soloist! The woodwinds sound good! Im liking the visuals as well! Great job to the clarinet duet. Always nice to see a euphonium solo! The slow movement sounds great! Nice build up from the band into the big hit of the slow movement! Overall, great performance Liberty HS!

Liberty: so ummmmm that was incredible. One of the stronger and more cleaned sounding groups so far. That brass sounded like a concert band at times. Lovely c-net duet, sounded great with the full ensemble. Euphonium soloists was so pretty, and great stuff from the sax quartet. Just really impressed with their musical performance. Visually also very clean, loved the visuals during the drumbreak. Don’t really understand the theme but like they could have a couple judges put them in….maybe? They will do really well at area, it’s a great show, amazing job Liberty

Not going to make too many band-to-band comments until maybe finals, but this has been a great start to the morning! Great showing from some of the smaller band, I have been really impressed with everyone so far. The depth of this contest is crazy.

Liberty has improved  since I saw them last.... cleaned and improved their GE/Visuals....Marching has improved greatly.... sound was great... a little  intonation issues here and there.. overall  great and clean....

McKinney North:

HELLO McKinney North!!! Fantastic first hit! The music is so catchy! Their use of playing big and loud is interesting. Definitely letting us know that they are here! They look great visually. Bad moon on the Rise sounded amazing!!!! The vocalist sounds fantastic! The trumpet and trombone soloist did Amazing! This show is so good! The blend of the band with the vocalist sounded fantastic! The show is fun and just fits so well with the show style McKinney North has found over the last few years. I would be surprised if they don't make state this year. This year just keeps proving that it is going to be a bloodbath at 5A Area B. Phenomenal job McKinney North HS!!

With that, Block 1 is complete! I'll be watching the rest of prelims, but won't be posting anything. What a great start to the day!

McKinney North-Celestial Swing: exactly what you would expect from this band. So much fun, great sound and visuals, and tons of GE. That singer was just unreal, she’s going big places in life. I feel brass was a little iffy at times after the ballad but god they have a giant sound, you can hear those tubas all day long. Sax quintet was great, tempo felt a little off first run of moonlight but 2nd and on was nails. Visually very strong, lots of bodywork. Could def see them in finals, really depends on the judges but either way amazing job MN!!

I think Reedy and MN could be closer than we might think. MN def has more GE but I felt reedy was a tad bit cleaner overall. Am probably completely wrong but I could see them swapping

Yeah, Im toying with the possibility that they both make finals, its just hard with the depth in this contest. Reedy sounds great, clean show, will do well in the UIL circuit. MN should do well, but overall felt like it wasn't locking in at times today, but the vibe of the show was super strong and the performers are super talented.

It usually happens when there’s so many replies on one day. It may be a new feature, but I’m not sure.

Seen many times before. Especially during a BOA event day or finals and Area Finals

Lone Star-The Journey: LONE F@&*ing STAR!!! I mean that might be top 4 today….maybe. Musically I heard nothing wrong, they didn’t let the heat get to them at all! Just such a powerful sound!!! Soloists were fantastic, features Were clean, what more else can u ask.

a couple visual things but yeah that was unreal. This should be top 4 or 5 at state, fantastic job LS!!!
