Yep, if things stay as expected they can still potentially do a finals round & even finish around midnight if necessary as stated in the UIL guidance. There could be pauses to wait for a shower to clear, but finals round hasn't been ruled out yet.  Everyone is just staying aware they might only get one shot.

Yeah, I think you have to go in thinking you are only getting one shot and to make it the best you can and then hope to get a final round shot to address any issues. If everything goes off without a hitch it's going to make for a very very long day.

Someone is going to perform 1st for state in this area…

They got it. The bands this area is sending are super good. Unfortunately, there's only 7 spots with more deserving bands. Some of them will end up empty handed...

Area C 3A also had 1st with Commerce High School being the "lucky" winner.

Don't they random draw performance order for areas each year?

Yes. Usually During the judges meeting at the conclusion of finals, the bands that qualify for state will draw their performance time.

Why is hargrave in 20th?

Well its bc of how stacked the Area is. I could see them placing as high as 18th, but personally see them placing 20th.

I personally would not attempt to do that without seeing them today. To do that, would be ignoring the potential of what a band may have accomplished during the past 2 weeks.

If all the Area's compete today like normal then around 11pm or so then the directors will know exactly where they will perform for state. However. UIL probably will not officially release it on their website until Sunday or Monday.

oh my goodness… Pine Tree is a COMPLETELY different band than their princeton run. Everything is clean but their sound is still powerful. The drill looked very defined as well.

I remember seeing Pine Tree at 5A SMBC last year… And I remember them being fairly clean. Hopefully they are able to thrive in 4A, while PT-ISD has some time to grow.

If there is anyone there that can do any kind of live updates, I would greatly appreciate it.  I'm stuck at a work thing in Houston and area contests aren't live streamed.

Is there a certain band you are watching for?

How’s it been so far

how did community and van Alstyne do?

I would say Celina and Farmersville are way at the top, followed by a cluster including VA, Sunnyvale, Community, PT, and Wills point. I could not tell you who is ahead of who from that cluster. They all had good runs but Farmersville and Celina are a step above in both show complexity and execution. This was my first time seeing Celina’s full show and it was dang good at the end. First time hearing the high acclaimed sax solo from Farmersville too.

I should’ve included pleasant grove in that mix as well. They looked good too.
