Also I believe Panther Creek broke the Lake Ridge 2013 and Lake Belton 2021 Record on making State Finals in only their 2nd year in existence. Panther Creek did that and then on top of that, got a silver medal.

The record isn’t broken, but it’s now a 3 way tie! They do however have the highest placement out of all of them by far!

Robinson (4A) who placed 25th this season in prelims, has more state championships than Vandegrift (6A) and Hebron (6A) combined

Only 64 schools in Texas have won a State Championship as of 2021

Sundown (2A) has the most State appearances with 27 prelims appearances, 25 finals appearances, and 7 state championships

Argyle (4A in 2021, 5A in 2022 and 2023) has had the most state championships with 8, but now being moved to 5A, they didn't even make the state, and was one place from making state

Celina (4A) went from not making state at all, to winning the state championship back to back.

Yup, looks like it's 3 for Vandy and 1 for Hebron.

IF this wiki article is correct--  It's an interesting view of the Texas state champs in all classifications over the years.

  • 2023 was just the second time at Grand Nats (2021) and 4th time ever at a BOA event (2017 and 2022 SA SR) that all finalist bands received a score of 90 or higher to qualify for finals.

It was actually the third time in Grand Nats history that the top 12 all broke 90 in semifinals. The first time it happened was in 2007.

I'm pretty sure Tenaha won in 2021 instead of Sundown
