  1. Thanks, mombs. If anyone has further information -- especially scores -- that would be great!
  2. If anyone is there at the event and would be kind enough to post results, I would be very grateful!
  3. Thank you, littlejaw, for your commentary and rankings. I'm sure I speak for many others as well when I say that it is appreciated.
  4. Really, the first 15 out could be its own competition, and it would be a good one.
  5. At state competition, I mean. There have been several times where Cedar Park was beaten cleanly by various bands in their area, but then takes everyone to task quite handily come San Antonio. Moreover, many area results everywhere are historically weird compared to state results.
  6. Danpod's dictum about the tractor holds not only between Area prelims and finals, but also between Area finals and State competition.
  7. I'll throw my predictions out there. 1. Tarpon Springs 2. Wando 3. Cedar Ridge 4. Fort Mill 5. Park Vista 6. James F. Byrnes 7. Haltom 8. Coweta 9. Walton 10. Green Hope 11. Lafayette 12. Trinity
  8. False. You were typing a reply to the thread. Unless you usually try to sleep and reply to threads at the same time.
  9. With your eyes. Alternatively, someone could read you the schedule.
  10. I was there at that contest last year. Keller had an uncharacteristically weak run in prelims, while Keller Central did pretty well in their prelims run. Finals was rained out, so prelims scores were taken as final. Had finals not been rained out, Keller would have jumped up two or more points above Central. For reference, Richland, in exhibition there, probably would have scores somewhere in the 73-76 range. So, I think it's more correct to say that Prosper was at that point just beginning to come somewhat near the performance level of Keller Central.
  11. The only bands in a position to topple CP are Waxahachie and Richland. Maybe Prosper as well. But the chances of that happening are very low. Richland was probably in the best position to do so coming into this season, but they didn't come out of the gate all that hot. As a result, it's hard to say how close (or far) they would end up from CP. Waxahachie has a chance to snag a music judge or two from CP if they are as polished late season this year as they were last; they did it to Keller at DMI last year. It's hard to tell where Prosper is at. It's clear they're good, but how good is that compared to the other three? The most surprising thing I could realistically see them doing is taking 2nd place. EDIT: "But the the chances of that happening are very low" should read as "But the chances of CP being toppled are very low."
  12. I think that's within the realm of the reasonable, just considering the score spread from STL.
  13. Yes, I saw Prosper at HEB. They continue to improve. They have a legitimate shot at top 3 for UIL state, and perhaps they even have a shot at the top half of semi-finals at GN.
  14. Haltom is very good, but I think it's more reasonable to slot them somewhere between 5th and 7th. Not saying they can't place higher, but I think it would be an uphill battle.
  15. I'll need to dig around to see how Aledo has historically done in UIL. I can imagine circumstances in which their boldness, sometimes overextended, would not be preferred to Birdville's more controlled products. A third band potentially in the hunt is Colleyville Heritage.
  16. Usually the real discussion starts when the Region contests are over and Area starts up. And don't take our conversation here so seriously! We're random people on the internet. If you want feedback that's more meaningful, ask a band parent that's been around for a while. Or ask your band director (but not every day).
  17. That's an odd thing to say. But maybe you don't fully mean that, or maybe I'm misunderstanding you. If GE was not judged whatsoever, a band could play long tones while marching 8-to-5 up and down the field, and would effectively be competing at the same level as a band with an actual show. Even UIL has a design element integrated into the music and marching captions.
