  1. I like the H2's, but the H3's aren't that great. Only reason you would buy a H3 is becuase it says hummer on it. but tell me that this isn't a cool car:
  2. True story. Wasn't he on Dr. Phil as well?
  3. MI 3 was awesome! all of the mission impossibles have really good plots. Only thing is that tom cruise just happens to be the main character. that guy is seriously insane. someone please, get him some medication lol.
  4. 5-6 snare 3 tenor 5 bass 4 cymbal 15 pit
  5. I actually prefer the Buffalo hide drum heads. The native americans knew what they were doing. I actually find it hard to decide between the more traditional bufffalo and the newer horse hide. The horse hide just adds the giddy-up in your sound for a more crisp and tactful rebound. While the buffalo's are just a classic drum head, either way you can't go wrong. You can have your high tech kevlars, but I'll take the natural choice any day.
  6. that would be really cool to see, maybe the colorgaurd could dress in those big lab suits or something. jk
  7. that's cool, where do you get your ideas?
  8. AYO has a concert tonight at the Austin HS PAC at 7 if any one is interested in coming. We're playing: A Night On Bald Mountain - Modest Moussorgsky Symphony No.8 in G Major - Antonin Dvorak I. Allegro con brio II. Adagio III. Allegreto grazioso IV. Allegro ma non troppo It's going to be a sweet concert, admission is free, please come and listen if you can!
  9. yeah! that was awesome! so many things to love about it, but i gotta mention the guy marchinig chimes! (aka tubular bells to fortisimo) What a bad a** that guy was. I wonder how you strap that thing on.
  10. ???? chimes maybe lol LONG LIVE POULAN!!
  11. Poulan doesn't normally write percussion parts does he? And how did your head get so big Fortisimo?
  12. Well one thing to keep in mind while listening to most of those files is that they are MIDI files so they don't really have that shine to them. but we played his arrangement of Scheherazade, not the SCV version, for the 2004 fall season. I didn't think it was too bad, there's a recording of it in the media section under Georgetown. One of our directors (Tyler Dempsey) writes all of the percussion parts, and then he and the other directors decide where they would like to edit certain parts of the wind score, so that we can add drum breaks or just make tweaks. So it's not straight-up Poulan, we just kind use his ideas. But by all means, please feel free to defecate upon his porch lol, don't let me stop you.
  13. Word! let's make a fan club, with t-shirts!
  14. nope, i've never seen or heard of it. i was really just making a reference towards american pie and other more main stream movies than anything else. But yeah i'll have to check that out sometime. Is it like something you can rent from blockbuster?
  15. So I pretty much hate this movie. I guess it's just a different style of marching band but I just hate how they stand in a block and dance around like a bunch of flopping fish. plus, who can stand nick cannon? Their are some cool parts and everything but I just hope that all the non-band people that watch it, don't get the wrong idea of what marching band is about. Another thing that I don't like about the movie, is how at the end they get p-diddy or somebody like that to come in and sing/rap/yell with the band. how can he do that if he's not a member of the band? oh well, band is just given a bad image at the movies.
  16. Marcus has the best high school drumline in the country in my opinion. winning PASIC every opportuntiy they can just kind of does it for me. Which brings up another thing, PASIC is in Austin this year!! Anybody know which high school drumlines will be going? I know we're (Georgetown) going.
  17. egyptian/arabian theme, by KEY POULAN. all percussion parts written by Tyler Dempsey. and i'd like to dedicate my 100th post to dynasty/clarinot for creating such a sweet website
  18. Just got back Sunday night from the ncbf, it was a lot of fun! We had an awesome concert, and got a lot of positive feedback. Our main judge is the current UIL music director, Richard Floyd. So basically, we travelled 1,000 miles to get feedback from a guy who lives 30 miles away. But he gave us some good advice and we were greatful to have such a well respected and knowledgeable judge. Our concert was at 9 pm on Friday, and everyone was really tired. I do have to admit that I was disapointed in the size of our audience, and everyone was severely sleep deprived. But other than that, it was awesome!
  19. 1st was Amanda Turley from Westlake
  20. There are so many variables in playing correctly. It just depends on what works for you. Some general things to remember: Embouchure: keep your corners in and don't feel like you're smiling. always have a little bit of an overbite unless you are flat. Keep your throat open; breath like you are darth vader, and that's what it should feel like in your throat. Your reeds make all the difference in the world. If you can't find a lesson teacher to make them for you, go to www.forrestsmusic.com or www.charlesmusic.com to buy a few. As long as your taking private lessons with somebody who knows what their talking about when it comes to bassoon, you should be fine. Hope this helps.
  21. Yes, unless you have one of the virtuoso solos, which do not require any memorization. You can check here: http://www.uil.utexas.edu/music/pml_solos.html
