  1. I concur. Then it might be easier to convince my mom to take me, if there's a theater located somewhere that doesn't require driving through insane amounts of Houston traffic. (I'd drive myself but I'm more afraid of the traffic than she is .)
  2. Cypress Creek's UIL concert program, as follows: Concert II Dolce and Dance Ghost Fleet Valley Forge Concert I Longford Legend Baroco Nobles of the Mystic Symphonic Symphony No. 3 (movements I and II), by Giannini Aegean Festival Overture The Klaxon
  3. Yay for snopes! And about people thinking that Texans ride horses to school... what I find even more humorous is how that idea goes around, while I'm always seeing cows in fields on the edges of busy streets or next to a pharmacy.
  4. I don't think I would mind too much if we got school uniforms. Unless it involves a skirt. Having to wear a skirt every day would not make me happy.
  5. Since I got a 1 on my solo and it was memorized, I do qualify for All-State S&E. But when I talked to my band director about it, he basically said it might be more trouble than it's worth. Our band directors don't go, so if I did it I'd have to do everything on my own, including taking a marimba, bringing it back and everything in between. To put it simply, I'm not going. But good luck to anyone who is!
  6. Me = very happy fangirl
  7. I recently found out that our guard instructor was once a member of the Glassmen.
  8. Trying to find rhymes made my brain fogged. This game gets harder with every post,
  9. I've been in Latin club for 3 years, but for the past 2 years we haven't had any real meetings. Last year I did some volunteer work at a wildlife rehabilitation. This year I'm on the newspaper, a decision that still astounds me today. Being in newspaper means I have to talk to people. People I don't know. I don't like talking to people I don't know. But on the upside I get first dibs on all the band-related stories.
  10. We've tried to have a Sadie Hawkins dance, but nobody bought tickets to it so it was cancelled. (I wouldn't have gone anyway )
  11. Our Solo & Ensemble contest was last week. All three percussion ensembles got a I, and I even managed to get a I on my solo. But 3 weeks ago I was freaking out over my solo and getting so stressed that I even considered dropping it. But thanks to some encouragement from my band director I stuck w/ it and practiced twice as hard, and it was so totally worth it.
  12. I live right outside of Houston, and I'm planning on majoring in Psychology. But I won't be joining band until concert season b/c the Longhorn Band doesn't have a pit.
  13. A drum corp that I can very realistically join w/ only slight transportation issues (at least once I move to Austin to attend UT)... I will say that I am going to give this some very serious thought.
  14. Hey, some of us LIKE "middle school" ensembles like Teamwork. It was my first high school ensemble piece. So there. My lessons teacher has been hinting that he might want us to play Saber Dance at this year's Percussion Production. Anyone hear heard of it/played it? (Cause I haven't... )
  15. Yet the next time I'm back here it's almost dead. I hate writing English papers, don't you?
  16. I'm a future psychology major at UT Austin. I'd join the marching band, but they don't have a pit . But there's always concert band in the spring!
  17. And in concert band time sigs just get queerer. (Anyone who's played Aegean Festival knows what I mean),
  18. I don't know anything about drum corps before recent years to come up with a decent list, but one show I would like to see is Bluecoats 2001. I've only seen a tiny clip of their show from the 2001 championships, but in that clip the pit had the most amazing chromatic run (sooo clean...). I'd like to see if the rest of the show has that kind of quality.
  19. After 4 years of high school region band auditions and 1 year from middle school: --never made all-state --never made area --never even made region! But to be honest (don't tell my band directors), I never wanted to make region band in the first place. I only went b/c at our school you have to at least go to the auditions to be considered for the top band.
