Area B Discussion
borchnork replied to AzNtRoMbOnEcHiCk's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
3rding david's statement. Look at the major predictions. We were placed either as alternate or fighting for our lives to get into the top four. What we did was AMAZING yes, but it was very unexpected. I also believe I mentioned that before finals started, how everybody's favored four performed in the first four slots. -
oh ok, well yah, I can barely remember what happened last week, so whatever happened last year is pretty much out of the question. lol

Wow, that post really meant a lot. Both your performance from last night, and what you said about our band. We'll try our hardest not to let you down! -

Thank you for placing us up there! It's going to be insane! -
So, I realize that this is EXTREMELY random, but I was having a debate last night with a clarinet player in my band about this. I just want to prove him wrong. =] haha. I asked our band director the same question, and he just stared with that look that says "Oh god, these kids are actually in MY program????" and then turned away. The clarinet player and I couldn't stop laughing for like 5 minutes.

Injuries
borchnork replied to dtxtrmpt's topic in Everything Music: Marching, Concert, Auditions and more
last year right before our Duncanville contest, we had a trumpet player break her leg, and she still marched on it. We had to carry her off the field though and she was crying pretty badly. We have a flute player currently who slipped coming down the stairs at a contest and sprained her ankle and I think dislocated her knee, but she's still marching. She'll be walking on crutches today until the instant we actually start the show. My freshman year, we had a box drill, and one of our bass drum players slipped and the drum ended up hitting her in the head. We had to call the ambulance for that one. There was a mellophone player last year slip while running back to a set and dislocated her knee. She popped it back into place on her own, which just caused more problems. She ended up marching all of last year, and most of this year before she had to get knee surgery. And as far as my injuries, there's nothing to severe. After our show though, it always hurts to walk, and when I get home from practice, I hafta sit and keep both of my legs wrapped up or else the pain becomes really bad. -
Band nerd!

I think our director feels like I'm the ultimate nerd. Especially after our football game last night. wow. interesting. -
wow... ok nvm, Ignore me, cus I obviously don't know what I'm talking about. But I could have sworn it was. I'm just losing my mind.

more reasons I want to go to your school (despite this being your first winning season). we lost again. now 1-7 after losing to Little Elm 33-22 (1-4 in district I think?) =[

It's okay. I still love Sherman's band. I wasn't offended by the posting at all. I'm looking forward to seeing you guys tomorrow, because I think you have a GREAT shot at being Area Champs. And I meant that I thought there shoulda been 3 more bands in area b finals, not just area b itself. All 20 of us are accounted for. =] -
problems?

I do enjoy being the senior section leader a lot. I got run over all the time last year by seniors who refused to listen to a junior, but now it's much easier cus of the age. What frustrates me a lot though is that this year I basically HAVE TO BE a jerk for my section to listen to me. I was the nice one last year, and now it's not that way anymore. I've tried being nice and respectful and setting a good example, but the only effective thing for my section is just to get in their face really, and I HATE it because I'm really not a "get-in-your face" kind of guy. -
hmm... maybe it was Colleyville Heritage then... I can't recall that show, but I know we were at the same contest as you...
-
just had to point out the the Cowboys record is exactly opposite of ours. and when we lose, they win and when we win, they lose odd.
-
yah, this seems like a much more appropriate place for this topic. did colleyville do the show w/ the backfield pyramids last year?

GAME ON!

Isn't it 20 or more then 10 bands make finals? that's what I believe is true. So area B is missing three bands... -

OF COURSE! you could never split the Mexicans up. Like I said, I'll see if Conner wants to join us as well. But let's not get to far ahead of ourselves quite yet. Saturday is still 2 days away. -
Question
borchnork replied to acsc1312's topic in Everything Music: Marching, Concert, Auditions and more
I'll text the terminator after the results are announced for Area B, even though there's a chance I may be either to excited/shocked or SOMETHING to even look at a phone. -

Ahh! 2 Days. and sorry that I"m still living in the past. I was much more in love w/ North's show than Boyd's. I still Feel like Boyd has come leaps and bounds though from last year. -

That's just generally how I view the McKinney schools. I think North will get the marching points that Boyd won't is mainly my reasoning. -

Or better than third, with the way your director sounds. -

Of course you shouldn't. A leader's age doesn't matter. A good leader knows how to get people motivated and do what needs to be done. Sure, some experience helps, but people who are naturally good leaders can do these sorts of things at any age. I had a paragraph once on what defined a good leader... I don't know where it is anymore, but if I find it, I'll pm it to you
