  1. Rockwall-Heath: Welcome to San Antonio! Dense Chords! Sax solo!!! Simple but effective. Ballad soloist great tone🫶. WW technique!
  2. Vista Ridge: Jaw. On. The. Floor. BRASSSS!!!! BAC-2017(?) Reference. Beautiful writing. Definite medal contender.
  3. I will definitely be busy all day so writing full recaps seems unrealistic…. Will try some one-word highlights for the day. Keller: Staging. Uniforms. MELLOS!
  4. Good morning 6A! Already starting off strong this morning with The Woodlands! Seems the NFHS stream is up and the mic setup sounds good this year! Going to be a great day!
  5. Finalist predictions in alphabetical order: 🥈Ganado HS Lockney HS 🥇Rivercrest HS Ropes HS Shiner HS (or maybe Rosebud-Lott HS) 🥉Sundown HS Tenaha HS
  6. You can find breakdowns for all areas here: https://www.uiltexas.org/music/marching-band/area
  7. Ill give a small retrospective about the 2025 season for 5A Area B, even though it happened yesterday. Thoughts: Congratulations to Wakeland, Lone Star, LT and Argyle on making state. I'm super excited to see these bands all in San Antonio next week! Top 3 no shock, strong placements all season. Saw a video of Argyle yesterday, they looked phenomenal! I think all 4 of these bands make state finals, and will represent this area well. McKinney North cleaned up A LOT since I saw them in Melissa, and they could've been top 4 as well, but Argyle I think had the edge last night after watching videos! Speaking of which, really bummed about the no-stream situation yesterday, I seem to remember there being one last year, and the 6A streams were all there last week...Weird. Hope I am able to be there in person regardless next year, but hope they find a way to consistently stream each year for all classes. Reedy puzzles me a bit, think they were great, haven't been able to see their run yet, but they had a great season! Melissa was not on my radar for expected finalists, but I think they absolutely deserve their placement, hope they can carry this momentum into 2026! Everyone did great, this region is brutal as always, but I think that in the end, the right bands are going to state. I'm assuming there is a high likely this area looks a bit different in 2026, so I hope it remains being this competitive.
  8. Congrats to all of the bands advancing to state! There’s not much news from this side of Texas, but excited to see some of these bands at state. The only question mark here for me is Coronado. Preseason at the Tumbleweed marching competition, they seemed to be doing quite well beating out Lubbock-Cooper and Lubbock. Seeing them 17th really shocked me.
  9. Congratulations to Mineola, Redwater, Atlanta, Commerce, and Queen City! I expect this area to have a really strong showing at state again, and am sure after tonight that Mineola will continue its gold medal streak (I will never doubt y'all again )! Excited for state next week!
  10. Predictions 1. Flower Mound HS 2. Vista Ridge HS 3. Hebron HS 4. Vandegrift HS 5. Marcus HS 6. The Woodlands HS 7. Cedar Ridge HS 8. Dripping Springs HS 9. Pearland HS 10. Coppell HS 11. Moe and Gene Johnson HS 12. Ronald Reagan HS 13. Prosper HS 14. Keller HS First Out: LD Bell HS Bubble: Bridgeland HS / Seven Lakes HS / Westlake HS / Waxahachie HS Quick thoughts: I really think Vista Ridge is having a strong year, really cool show, brass is KILLER, and overall think they have a shot at medaling. Within the top 5, I think FM wins, music goes to Hebron, percussion to Marcus, visual to FM. Vandegrift is a question mark to me at this moment. The area D bands could be any sort of jumbled order come finals night, but my initial thoughts give CR the edge. I think Prosper actually has a chance to make finals, however, as always the bubble here is very large. Pearland should do well, placement is mainly a guess rn.
  11. Correct, but still within their top half/bottom half grouping.
  12. MN in top half and Melissa in finals👀Gonna be a fun finals.
  13. Heres the schedule again for reference
  14. This is the 6A thread, but yeah seems none of the competitions are showing on NFHS yet.
  15. I feel so bad for that band, and those seniors💔
  16. Good morning Area B! Excited for all the bands today, good luck everyone!
  17. This is typically the general approach I have heard...Like obviously they want to get it correct in prelims, but its more about choosing the top X amount of bands to judge in finals.
  18. Predictions for finals in alphabetical order: 🥈A&M Consolidated Angleton Barbers Hill Brenham 🥉College Station 🥇Friendswood Galena Park Kempner La Porte Porter Randle Spring Woods Im going to sleep Good luck to all bands tomorrow.
  19. Super last minute predictions: 1. North Mesquite 2. Lakeview Centennial HS 3. Poteet 4. Mount Pleasant HS 5. Kaufman 6. West Mesquite HS 7. Highland Park 8. Red Oak 9. Terrell 10. Texas HS Top 3 could be any configuration ATP. Excited for tomorrow.
  20. Just going to go ahead and make this topic, since area is tomorrow. I will try to see if I can catch finals schedule if theres a stream for the area.
  21. I have been stuck on this one all week, but ultimately, heres what I have come up with. Predictions: 1. Burleson Centennial 2. Aledo 3. Midlothian 4. Grapevine 5. Birdville 6. Richland 7. Azle 8. Granbury 9. Saginaw 10. Joshua Bubble: Chisholm Trail/Colleyville Heritage/Brewer Quick Thoughts: I think BC can take gold this year, they look and sound good. Really liking Grapevine this year, I think they make state. The bubble here IMO is theoretically like 8 bands, but I think I am comfortable with these. Joshua is having a strong year, placing above some bands I would've put in finals at-a-glance, and just overall looking pretty good. I think the judging format shifting will shake this area the most out of any of the 5A areas. CT and CH are kind of a question mark for me, some good placements that would have me put them in finals, and some not so favorable.
