I was also able to catch them last night, and as of right now I give Flower Mound the edge. Avon has a fun show, and Carmel has good rep, but FM has a visually stunning show and they’re locked in. -

I have also heard this, that Mckinney North will most likely see a drop in numbers to keep them 5A and funnel some of the area to each of High and Boyd. -
UIL AREA B 2A
WanderingTraveler replied to l2008's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
This was the Stephenville contests 2A bands, so quite a few it seems. Can’t seem to find the Dublin schedule I saw, but there were a couple of bands there from this area as well. -

Predictions: 1. Vandegrift 2. Vista Ridge 3. Westlake 4. Lake Travis 5. Brandeis 6. William Taft 7. John Paul Stevens 8. Sandra Day O’Connor 9. Sonia Sotomayor 10. Steele Honestly, don't see many surprises here as of now, but I could definitely eat those words. Don't think Brandeis can overtake Lake Travis for a state spot this year, so kind of a boring prediction, but excited to see this shake out. -

Without knowing more details, I’ll reserve most of my thoughts… But depriving the TCHS seniors of their final few performances over a disagreement about what constitutes a class for one kid is really rough. Sorry to all those affected by this. -
UIL 6A Area J 2025
WanderingTraveler replied to bandfromplanoarea's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
I should be here for at least finals, so excited to see how this plays out. Predictions: 1. Hebron 2. Flower Mound 3. Marcus 4. Wylie 5. Prosper 6. McKinney 7. Braswell 8. McKinney Boyd 9. Rock Hill 10. Plano East Leaving Wylie East out feels strange to me, but this is sorta my gut feeling on how this will play out. Really enjoy McKinney Highs show, and think they could definitely be higher. Same with PESH, just can't justify it from a predictions perspective. Boyd is a dark horse to me in the sense that I have no real clue what they are going to do, only full show I haven't seen. -
UIL AREA B 2A
WanderingTraveler replied to l2008's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
There are almost no results that I can find from any bands in this area Santo won both Dublin and Stephensville competitions, so safe be they are top of the area. But besides that, its really just Honey Grove that I would guess for a state spot. If anyone has more comprehensive results from competitions in this area let me know. -

UIL 6A Area A 2025
WanderingTraveler replied to hsbandnerd212's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
This one is hard to predict as contest results in this area of Texas are hard to find... Midland is having a good year and is currently leading the reigning silver medalist, Frenship, in this area at every competition they have gone head-to-head at. Permian still takes gold here IMO and I honestly don't see anything changing from finals of last year, but bubble could be close. I could be sleeping on Pebble Hills to be a state advancement contender, but I can't seem to find their show video. Finalist predications in alphabetical order with state advancement predictions bolded: Eastlake HS El Paso Coronado HS 🥉Frenship HS 🥈Midland HS Pebble Hills HS 🥇Permian HS San Angelo Central HS Bubble: Franklin & Eastwood -

Westlake has my fan favorite show of the night so far. Wish the backfield props were a bit more interactive however. Anyways, WHAT A SOUND! Love the visual choices in this show. Hope that person that fell in the front field is ok! Guard in the ballad was great! Uniforms with the capes are fire. Overall just a great presentation. I unfortunately have to head out the door, but will try to stay updated here Great job everyone! -

JET Mellos 👀 Band seems super visually clean. Articulation done super well, especially in the brass features at the beginning/near the end. Small ensemble work was great. Enjoyable music and show! -

Dang all these bands are using the field well. James Bowie has some really nice staging. Impressed with ensemble awareness when they are so spread out! Trombones were a highlight in this show! Ballad duet into the hit was super effective. Very clean show and the final set of this show was colorful and well done! -

L.D. Bells show has so much going on that it is hard to catch everything. Ensemble sound is super dense, love it. Flute soloist is incredibly talented! Some cool drill right before the ballad. Definitely a very difficult show, but done very well! I see why y'all placed first in 4A in prelims! -

Commented on Hutto in prelims, but wow another great run. Timber Creek!!! Was that the battle bus?!?!?! Jk. Love this show. Super cool presentation thematically, music is great, and y'all have outstanding soloists. Really enjoyed the flute trio, and balance from the ensemble is top tier!
