So excited for this competition to start! So many bubble bands that can push their way into finals!!
Cedar Park kicking off the day is very fitting for a competition of this caliber and I know they’ll play phenomenally!
Are there people that are attending that will post thoughts here after a band performs? Watching through y’all’s eyes lol

Post UIL State predictions:
Finalists-
Vandegrift
The Woodlands
Marcus
Vista Ridge
Rouse
Ronald Reagan
Wakeland
Cedar Ridge
Bridgeland
Round Rock
Claudia Taylor Johnson
Westwood
Cedar Park
(1 more...I think it's going to be either LD Bell, Leander, or James Bowie.)
I believe Timber Creek still has a good shot at finals here. Though their state placement wasn’t great, I think their BOA placements and scores all season are something to look out for. Still definitely a contender here.

I think it’s also easier to compare bands when they are closer together. More consistency in judging.
It also kind of sets a decently large gap between the band in 7th and the band in 8th. That probably doesn't happen all the time but more times than not you see that gap happen. But in the end, it does make deciding who is top 5 in the state way easier because they see those bands one after the other.

I would love McKinney North to make finals. I absolutely love their show and think they play it phenomenally.

Thank you for sharing their names. They deserve the recognition. That guard book is seriously stellar and those kids are performing the heck out of it.
I don't usually watch guard for marching band because I'm always so focused on the winds but, I specifically remember the Woodlands guard at San Antonio finals last year catching my eye. If a guard is able to draw your eyes toward them and off of a band such as The Woodlands, I'd definitely call that a win. I can easily say their guard was the cleanest and most engaging guard I've ever seen in a high school marching band. They know what they're doing and how to do it the best it can be done.

Here's what I got (was gonna post them in alphabetical order, but that's not as fun):
1. Coppell
2. LD Bell
3. Timber Creek
4. Keller Central
5. Keller
6. Waxahachie
7. Southlake Carroll
I think these 7 bands are all locked in for state, but probably not in this exact order.
I agree with this👍

All I have to say is wow. These results surprised me!

Yeah, so I think Duncanville just really prioritizes UIL over BOA, and I definitely think their shows these past few years shows. The real difference is that BOA is more of a content/design thing, while UIL is about execution. It really just comes down to can the show look good while executing well at it.
I feel like Duncanville has been dipping their toes into the BOA world with their style of shows. I got very BOA vibes from their show last year with the props and uniforms. I feel their main focus still is UIL but they are trying their shot at BOA with their content. I haven't watched their show this year but based on last year I feel they definitely want a better ranking at this BOA comp, and honestly, they might surprise everyone.

Love the Timber Creek AAAA champion, if they can actually pull it off I’ll be so happy for them!
I love this idea as well, they could do it considering they beat Keller at HEB and LD Bell in prelims at BOA Bedford. It just requires a strong prelims run.

I don’t personally see Lake Ridge making finals here, especially over Boyd and Forney. Don’t get me wrong the are really good, but the show lacks imo GE, but I don’t think they will be far out.
That’s very fair, I haven’t seen Lake Ridge this season so I put them there based off last year but I did see Forney at HEB this year and if they are just getting better than I believe they’ll make finals.

After Bedford and seeing a few of these bands perform, I'll have a better idea of where these bands stand. Right now these are my top 12 as of right now.
1. Wakeland
2. Keller
3. Timber Creek
4. LD Bell
5. Waxahachie
6. Prosper
7. Southlake Carroll
8. Duncanville
9. Hendrickson
10. Keller Central
11. Lake Ridge
12. Lake Highlands / Boyd / Rock Hill / Sachse / Forney
Couldn't fully decide on the final spot and these will most likely move around after Bedford.

I agree with most of what you said except for the Timber Creek part. I believe their show is extremely UIL as shown by BOA DFW and then later at Area B. Keller also placed higher than them in BOA but was beaten out by them in Area.

San Antonio was insane!!! After watching these amazing bands and with State prelims being tomorrow I’m curious to see what y’all think the state finals could be.

TC has been chasing Keller for some time, they have a chance for finals I think after this past weekend.
On the state schedule it says they go after CTJ, I’m not too educated on this but do you think going after such a talented band will hinder their chances for finals? I also believe keller will clean up rather well this week and will be able to push into finals, hopefully TC too.

I believe this is Timber Creeks highest ranking as well, just two out of finals.
