Interesting that the predicted best Texas band was the only Texas band to not make it.

Interesting to see that if this was a state year. Argyle would go from being so dominant at 4a state to not even making 5a state.

They don’t have GE at Area though. And guys, do remember in 2019, Lonestar did win Area prelims, winning ALL 3 music judges, and then Lebanon won finals. So I don’t think it would be impossible for someone to do it, as it happened just a few years ago.
Judges were wack that year look at the state results. Just like last year vista beating vandy at area then opposite happens at state

To say that is extremely unnecessary and naive. A few schools have started to close that gap. Wakeland is a very good band, but they're not unbeatable, as this season has shown.
And in 6A, watch out for Rock Hill. New kids on the block are bringing it. They're traveling. That electric guitar solo is edgy. And the entire show, capped by that closing dance number, is fun. Can't wait to see what they do next.
I am gonna say it at this competition wakeland is unbeatable. Sure they might lose a caption on some iffy performances at 8 am, but they have only been beat by 4 top 6a bands this whole season in finals (Hebron, flomo, Marcus, coppell by .135) they got beat by ld bell and westlake in prelims but thats just because of their early performance time compared to going right next to them making it easier for the judges to decide.

The scenario is with three music judges, lone star comes out on top musically, like they did at boa dfw.
Have you seen the difference between wakeland individual and ensemble music at dfw. That was the only reason lone star placed above them in music. And even then wakeland got 5th .135 or something behind coppell and beat lone star by 4 points. This past Saturday they got 19 in individual music finals

If I was a wakeland kid I would much rather go to duncanville invitational then area. No competition for them at area would be a free win.

I really feel like Wakeland was better then coppell and I think almost all the judges but the individual music judge thought so aswell. 15.9 individual compared to 17.9 ensemble. Only a .125 gap between coppell and wakeland this could have easily gone the other way.
Very interesting to see TC drop in finals. Definitely feel like something needs to change about top half bottom half. Almost feels like the judges are judging two different competitions.

Looking at the prelim recaps. Wakelands individual music costed them that 4th place finish.

BOA tends to reward variety. Excited to see how they fare this weekend at Dallas I!
Wakeland is definitely not a park and bark band. They are pretty much always moving.

Has band ever moved from bottom half to top half in prelims to finals?

They made finals in 2015 and I think they’ve attended more recently but aren’t going this year.
Pretty sure they normally go every state year. But due to Covid stuff last year BOA SA was the week after 5a compared to it normally being on that Friday Saturday, then state that following Monday,Tuesday. Expensive to stay the full week or make 2 trips.
