L.D. Bell: It All Begins With A Dot- Hello LD BELL! What a wonderful music performance from them! Really loved the drill in the opener leading up to the big "dot"! Guard was very impressive, and that ballad was very beautiful! Probably my favorite show of theirs of recently, could see them maybe taking the title at Prosper next weekend if they clean up a little more, but Wakeland is looking like one heck of a beast, but regardless a great run from L.D. Bell! -

Timber Creek: Aurora- Incredible performance from TC! That soprano sax soloist is absolutely cracked! Guard had a couple "big" drops at the beginning but was great the rest of the way through! Very big and impactful opening statement, really great sounds all around! Definitely see why they did so well at HEB last weekend! Really excited to see them live next weekend at Prosper, great job Timber Creek! -

Yeah Id say I agree, everyone else was just “finalist potential”, but I think Forney should be in pretty comfortably and Lonestar was great musically and visually, my biggest concern for them is GE, but I think they most likely will get in, but I’m just happy I’m not a judge, definitely don’t envy them -

Southlake Carroll: Le Vie est Belle- such a beautiful performance from Carroll! Really loved the soloist throughout, great sax ensemble in the ballad, and just a really great sound all around! Guard was very good, and my goodness that percussion is huge! Definitely a finalist contender, great job SLC! -

Marcus: Above the noise- HELLO MARCUS!!! I mean HOLY COW, THAT WAS INCREDIBLE!!! They sound so much better volume wise than they ever did last year! Guard was on fire, that percussion, don't even get me started! Such a huge, rich sound! Soloist were just fabulous, and they were just ripping through that music like it was a piece of cake! If they are 2nd, it wouldn't be surprised yall, after seeing flomo last weekend at Wylie, they could definitely take them, but if they don't it should be super close. Amazing job Marcus!!! -

Wakeland: A sense of direction- I don't know what to say other than Wow! I'm in awe every year of this program, as they just make it look so freaking easy! Just such a rich, powerful ensemble sound, wonderful soloist, incredible percussion, which by the way looks so young yet they are just ripping through their music, guard was fantastic, so much clean drill and the GE is just crazy. Definitely will be the AAA champions and probably sweep captions. I just speechless right now, could honestly see them over Coppell. Wow Wakeland, just wow. I'm beyond excited to see this next weekend at prosper. -

Ik! It's kind of hard to know where to put them. Amazing show, but I wonder how it will translate in terms of GE -

Lonestar: Gridlock- You can't ask for much better of a performance from Lonestar than that! That opening statement was so clean and crisp! Soloist were on fire as the usual, although I wish either they'd mic them or have the trumpet screamer and the end of Cowboy Bebop play louder because it's a big quiet at times. Drill was very clean, guard and perc were great, just such a fun show filled with great sounds! a couple uncharacteristic splats in the brass in some of the big ensemble impacts, but they have a really great shot at finals! Love that sax solo SO MUCH! Great job Lonestar!! -

James Earl Rudder: Mixed emotions: fun show from Rudder! They actually had some really good ensemble moments, and most of those soloist nailed it! Some micing issues and the drill doesn't offer to much, but they do great with what they had to work with! Really fun show with some great musical moments, great job Rudder! -

Sachse: Coloring Silence- HELLO SACHSE! Such an incredible performance! Music was really good, love me some 1812 Overture! The Basson Soloist was killing it the whole show, very neat moment with them playing backfield behind the props, and boy were the moving! I really I'm curious as how they will be judged in terms of GE, but I would not be surprised at all if they make the night show, that was very impressive! They really want a state spot at Area C this year! Amazing job Sachse! -

I was thinking maybe they would do a WW feature and just have them play a few of the Major Scales back to back really fast lol -

Coppell: Major Scale- Simply Magical! The woodwind ensemble at the beginning was so beautiful (love me some Leander 2015) and then it's just lay down the hammer! I've still yet to understand the theme as a whole, but regardless tons of emotions coming from each member, very call sidestep move from the woodwinds at the beginning, brass was very clean and powerful, Mellos and trumpets were ripping through those hard licks, and I'm NGL, that flugel solo.... Man, it's gonna be one that may make some shed some tears to say the least. Guard and percussion were wondaful as always! Amazing job Coppell!! -

Krum: By Candlelight- great performance from Krum! Loved the soloist throughout, the piano was a very nice addition, although sometimes it was a bit too much for me as it tended to cover up the sound of the band somewhat often. The singing at the end was not expected and definitely a very pleasant surprise. Drill was pretty clean, and the perc was very good for their size. will most likely be your class A champion. Great job Krum! -

Forney: In the Arena- OH. MY. GOD. I'm absolutely blown away by Forney! Great and super impactful opening hit! Soloist throughout were on fire, and that Percussion... on another level! The drill was also very clean, I loved how they kept alluding back to the music played backfield in the beginning throughout the whole show, very impactful! I'm so freaking excited to see then next weekend live and would be kind of shocked if they don't make finals, probably my new favorite Forney show, just wow wow wow. Amazing job Forney!! -

Trinity: Mad Hearts- holy cow Trinity! What an amazing performance! Really enjoyed the pre show body work, the end of the opening moment where the brass sound slowly disappeared as the woodwind and then the brass scattered to their form was very cool, huge and balanced ensemble sound and great soloist! Wouldn’t be surprised at all if they make finals. Great job Trinity! -

Frisco Liberty: A common thread- What a wonderful performance to open up prelims! The illustration of "the common thread" is seen in the drill throughout the show many times, some very challenging and well executed Carolina Crown styled brass features, loved the soloist throughout, especially the Violin ( I think I'm not the best with my string instruments in marching band 😭), which added some great music GE. Really beautiful performance, very interested to see how they do this season at Area B, could definitely shock some people. Great job Frisco Liberty! -

Good morning everyone! We are here live on Box5 at HEB stadium! I’ll be doing coverage of the first 3 blocks, as unfortunately Big 12 football calls this evening. Good luck to all the bands competing today! -
It depends... If James Martin doesn't make finals at BOA dfw and comes back here for finals, they will most likely win and sweep captions. I would guess Mansfield would be second, but I could see The Colony being over them. They have a great show and are coming off a really strong season last year. Assuming Martin doesn't make finals at boa, which I don't think they will this year just bs of how deep the comp is, here's what I'm thinking: 1st. James Martin (caption sweep) 2nd/3rd. Mansfield or The Colony 4th. Rockwall-Heath 5th Birdville 6th Anna 7th. Lakeview Centennial 8th North Mesquite 9th/10th Arlington/ Panther Creek/ Little Elm/ Guyer/ Garland It gonna be a battle for those last 2 or 3 spots, so I'm very excited to see who ends up getting those last few spots. Good luck to everyone competing here!
