  2. Austin has two bands in this contest. One swept captions and won 4a and the other got 3rd.
  3. I hadn’t seen this show from Westlake before. They have some kids out. That’s hard for the kids who have to adjust.
  4. But it is Austin. Round Rock ISD has 5 high schools. Two and a half of them are in Austin. (Westwood and McNeil are in Austin. Half meaning part of Round Rock High is zoned in the Austin city limits.) For that matter, parts of Cedar Park are zoned to go to Round Rock High. Then you have all of the AISD schools in the area along with parts of San Antonio and the spaces between. Let's be honest. Dripping Springs is now a suburb of Austin. So if you look at the IH35 corridor, the area sorta makes sense OUTSIDE of the areas north of Round Rock. That zone between Waco and Bryan just feels weird.
  5. Westwood will have all of their props and bricks ready to go. They've added guard hiders to their show, along with fielding their last movement which is really REALLY lovely. It's marching design that I've never seen before for Westwood
  6. How does The Woodlands and Cedar Park beat Vista Ridge? Just wondering
  7. Looks like 2019 all over again where panel 2 bands who performed early in the day got screwed out of finals
  8. These bands are advancing to Area D in San Antonio. Westwood Round Rock Cedar Ridge McNeil Stony Point Weiss Hutto
  9. I just saw Cedar Ridge tonight at region. I think they overtake Vandy
  10. Yesterday, a post on facebook started making the rounds and caught some steam. A person, (I say this because they honestly seem like a bot) had pics from Cedar Ridge's show and guard and went on a tirade about how the "devil," was being incorporated in our schools. This person stated that the school district was trying to teach our kids devil worship. She posted the phone numbers of the band director, head of RRISD fine arts and all of the email addresses of the school board members. This person did stated that when she spoke to the director, that he told her that they were gargoyles, not devils. Of course, they weren't satisfied with that answer. Last time I saw the post, it had been shared over 100 times before they took it down, however, someone else copied the post and reshared the details verbatim. I've made it known that I am a RRISD parent. Well I was since my kiddo graduated. But I still support all of the fine arts in the district. They have done a phenomenal job and do an outstanding job with their bands. I'm beyond pissed that some folks have nothing better to do with their time than to cause trouble. I post this here so that #1, the folks at Cedar Ridge can know that a TON of us current parents and former parents have your back! #2, we can help educate some of these folks who don't understand what a gargoyle is, and kindly point out that all over churches and buildings in Christian churches across the world have gargoyle statues placed in them.
  11. Region 26 is coming on Tuesday. Last year, all of the bands advanced to Area. It will be interesting to see if RRISD continues to have success as it has had so far this year.
  12. Westwood comes out meh at BOA Austin, then rises through October. They have Vista Ridge this weekend. I anticipate that they will have their full show on the field by the end of this week. This should be a great contest. Here's hoping for tons of success for Westlake and Westwood.
  13. Looking forward to seeing performance order. So happy for Round Rock and Cedar Ridge in their placements.
  14. Well that's shocking. Round Rock and Cedar Ridge placing ahead of Vista Ridge!
