  1. Send prelims here please much appreciated
  2. I have a question anyone can answer How will the bands attending state work logistically? I don't know how it is across the state, but about 90% of my band opted out of taking buses to football games and chose to drive there/get dropped off. So will the students drive down in one giant herd or will they take a bus and will they stay overnight at san antonio? Just curious.
  3. Results from yesterday Area A: Hanks Eastlake Belaire Del Valle Randall (SA) Area B: Lebanon Trail Wakeland Lone Star Wylie East Centennial (SA) Area C: Highland Park Midlothian Poteet Forney North Forney Lindale (SA) Area D: McCallum Dripping Springs Weiss Connally (SA) Area E: Friendswood Foster Shadow Creek (SA) Area F: Burleson Centennial Aledo Colleyville Heritage Birdville Granbury (SA) Area G: Sharyland Sharyland Pioneer Rio Grande City Brownsville Lopez Brownsville Pace Brownsville Porter (SA) Area H: Cedar Park Rouse Tivy Glenn John Marshall Harlan (SA) Area I: Willis Tomball Porter Galena Park (SA)
  4. Here's what I have to say about the potential finalists text Saturday: Wakeland- they're Wakeland. Lone Star- didn't perform that good last year compared to 2017, but this year has made MASSIVE strides and I put them to potentially make state if they clean up their drill. The Colony- haven't seen them in person but they are historically good Wylie East- came out of nowhere the past two years, they have something to prove this year, and they've shown it musically and visually. Placed 1st at the Little Elm contest over Lone Star. Lebanon Trail- for such a new school, they already have such a good program, I remember their show last year being jaw-dropping good. In my opinion, they march the best and visually overall are the strongest with Wakeland. Musically they are strong but their show consists of a lot of holding and playing. Centennial- from what I've seen from them this year, I don't think they are a contender for a state spot unless they make massive strides in the next few days. Lovejoy- just an overall great and clean band, the only thing they lack is numbers although they sound like a 6A band. Won WMI over Lebanon Trail, that sound raise some eyebrows. Definitely don't them out this year. Liberty- from what I remember, they are not the most visually strong program, and their music seems dirty and unsupported. Liberty's low brass overbalances the high brass and woodwinds quite obviously. Heritage- I would say Heritage is the most underrated band in Frisco, they are both musically and visually clean, but severely lack the numbers to compete with the others. Princeton and McKinney North- from what I've seen, I now don't believe they are contenders for state, but will definitely make finals. I would say the top 5 for music are Wakeland Wylie East Lebanon Trail Lovejoy Lone star Marching I would say Lebanon Trail Wakeland Lovejoy Wylie East Lone Star
  5. Everyone is making predictions for the finals so here is my list in no particular order: Cedar Park Rouse Dripping Springs Roma Wakeland Poteet Aledo Friendswood Lebanon Trail Wylie East, Lovejoy, Lone star (or whatever other band from Area B advance to state, I know the bands from Area B is gonna bring a punch this year!) Bottom line is that Area B will be fun to watch, there are a lot of good bands fighting for 3 spots (Wakeland will no doubt take one of the spots). Whatever 4 bands from area b go to state will undoubtedly place within the top 12 or 13.
  6. What were Lebanon Trail's numbers the past season?
  7. Doubt it, the director at Lebanon Trail taught at Centennial previously, so I assume they will go to TOC even though Lebanon Trail can for sure compete with and place well against the bands at BOA Dallas. Also, Lebanon Trail did extremely well at TOC, so why not go again? Centennial has gone to TOC for years consecutively, as well. I bet LT and Centennial's schedules will mirror each other. Hopefully, PEMI won't get rained out this year...
  8. Frisco Centennial hasn't attended a BOA event in years, I doubt they will travel all the way down to Waco. Wakeland and Liberty signed up for Waco last year, but the region 24 contest is on the same day as BOA Waco this year.
  9. Is this the first time 5a state is a two-day event?
  10. DFW and Austin dominate 5A, I'd like to see some SA or Houston blood this year! What top three bands from SA or Houston can make an appearance? Also what area is Roma in and who else is in their area?
  11. How has pflugerville done historically? Also what area are they in?
  12. Honestly, none others, DFW and Austin area bands RULE the 5a competition.
  13. We'll be seeing at least 3 new faces in finals this year bc of realignment.
  14. I just finished watching their band, I agree they've made some improvements, I suppose they are comparable to Lone Star.
  15. Can someone explain to me how draw times work? I'm confused on how bands are chosen for performance order for both prelims and finals.
  16. Why would you say that Wylie East would beat out other Frisco schools? They are a good band I agree with that, but their placement at area last year proves they just aren't that good enough to compete with Frisco. Let's not also forget that Frisco isn't the only ones in the area, TCHS, Princeton, and MNHS can't be ignored too
  17. Region 24's 5A bands have never gone below a 1 rating since 2004. Since then, every school has received a 1, regardless of classification (LSHS opened with grades 9-10 I believe, therefore were 3A at the time, as did Wakeland, and Lebanon Trail with just 9th graders).
  18. That's a good point, draw times can significantly provide inaccurate and unrepresentative scores. And yes I can see your point. Let's also not forget that Lebanon Trail lost their visual caption by 10 points out of 2,000 at TOC (PESH received 1880/2000, and LT got 1870/2000). Also that drumline! I'm not a percussionist, but both you and I can tell that they worked really hard to win that caption this year. I believe they already have the biggest drumline in FISD and with no seniors!
  19. List of bands in 5A Area B: Region 2: The Colony Northwest Denton Ryan Denton Braswell Denton HS Lake Dallas Region 24: Centennial Heritage Independence Frisco HS Wakeland Reedy Lone Star Lebanon Trail Liberty Memorial Little Elm Region 25: Mckinney North Lovejoy Wylie East Sherman Denison Princeton 23 bands total 5 have appeared at state in recent years ALL 23 received a 1 rating at region this year, probably the only area in Texas to do that this year for 5A, I don't know I'm not gonna go check tho
