  1. I wouldn’t give much clout to Horn Rank, especially in pre-season.
  2. I looked through some results from the past and they made San Antonio finals in 2008-2010. During that same time they competed on and off at the local BOA regional and made finals in 2010, 2011, and 2013. They didn’t make finals at either BOA event in 2014 but made 6A State finals. Starting in 2015, they have made finals at every contest they attended, which includes BOA San Antonio every year and also Grand Nationals in 2015. They have never medaled at a BOA competition. Totally think it’s a possibility for them to medal at this competition but It will be tough considering they usually peak very late, usually at the last few competitons. I’ve never been so excited for this competition, the difficulty to get into finals is insane. I usually prefer their shows to Cedar Park and LD Bell but you can’t deny the level of execution that Bell brings to the first competition that usually puts them on top early on. From what I’ve seen though, this might be the year where Keller finally beats Bell at this competition
  3. Yeah the weather is really a bummer this year. Even though the Austin, San Antonio, and Houston areas are getting more rain, some North Texas schools have yet to perform at a football game. I was at the Grand Prarie vs Keller football game and there were hardly any other audience members in the stands and we ended up getting dumped on by the rain for a few minutes. The band didn’t get to perform with the front ensemble and I talked to some parents after and it was the first time they actually got to perform the show. I really hope the weather doesn’t effect contests.
  4. Thanks for the heads up! Just submitted the contest info.
  5. Schedule for the HEB Marching Contest Sep. 29 https://ldbellband.org/hebmarchingcontest/2018-HEB-MC-Schedule.pdf
  6. I think it’s just different classifications because today is just the drum line contest.
  7. Yeah, that’s not Keller Timber Creek.
  8. This situation is honestly disgusting. I can’t imagine having such a disrespectful group of administrators. It’s obvious that they are extremely uneducated on what is best for the band. BOA finals spots are so valuable and it makes me sick that The Woodlands are forced to disrespect other bands at this contest when they clearly don’t want this. Make the football team come to a band competiton!! This is a horrible double standard that unfortunately affects one the top bands in the nation.
  9. I have seen a video of their opener from the front. And a standstill of a good portion of their show.
  10. Early Top 5 Prediction 1. Keller 2. Marcus 3. Haltom 4. Prosper 5. Wakeland I’m predicting a win for Keller just because this competition favors music to visual and GE to execution. I think Marcus will still be strong but I’m uncertain if they can match last year’s success. I think it will be a very close competition between the top 3 maybe even the top 4 with Prosper pushing hard for Nats.
  11. I don’t think Coppell is quite at their 2014 level. That show was phenomenal and had insanely hard but super clean drill and I think this years show just doesn't have quite the same demand. However, this might be their best show since.
  12. I think both bands will definitely be better than they were last year, should hopefully be a close competition.
  13. 1. Timber Creek 2. Coppell 3. Birdville
  14. 1. Vandegrift 2. Leander 3. Cedar Park 4. Bowie 5. CTJ 6. Cedar Ridge 7. Round Rock 8. Vista Ridge 9. Hendrickson 10. Churchill/Westwood
  15. I know that some of the Keller ISD schools used to play (or maybe still do?) some LISD schools and also LD Bell but for the most part they are alone in terms of marching band. And I think they have to play Midland sometimes which is strange.
  16. I remember seeing a video from early October of CTJ last year and not seeing all the hype whatsoever. But I was absolutely amazed when I saw them in San Antonio. The way is see it is...it’s super dirty? Good. That means they have a super challenging show that pushes their boundaries but will cause them to grow exponentially by the end of the season. I think what they have is phenomenal if you look at it long term. It’s extremely hard to top your best season yet especially if it’s was a BOA San Antonio championship, but I do think this will be a phenomenal year for CTJ.
  17. Bowie, Keller, Timber Creek, and Prosper will be surprises this year. CTJ, Hebron, Vandegrift, and Ronald Reagan will remain extremely strong.
  18. Haha, yeah I wish something crazy would happen though! We need another Flower Mound 15.
  19. Cedar Ridge?? Sweeping San Antonio and State??
  20. If Waxahachie can clean it up (which I very much think they will) I think they can make DFW finals and have a chance to advance to state. Coppell has impressed me a lot so far this year, a definite improvement over last year. They were quite good in 2016 but a super early performance time at DFW screwed them out of a finals spot. And last year they squeezed through by tying with Timber Creek. This year will be better, hopefully they will have more show on the field . So far not a fan of what Bell has got going on this year but they are probably not going anywhere. Seen/heard a few things about Timber Creek this year and they are still severely underrated. So excited to see them shock people this season. Also, I saw a video of Keller playing a small part of their show on their twitter page. Truly impressive.
  21. It’s strange to me how bands who won’t advance to state could destroy some who do.
  22. 1. Hebron 2. Flower Mound 3. Keller/Cedar Park 4. Cedar Park/ Keller 5. Union 6. LD Bell 7. Prosper/ Timber Creek/ Coppell 8. Coppell/Timber Creek/ Prosper 9. Waxahachie/Central/Duncanville/Wylie/Martin/Wakeland 10.Wakeland/Martin/Wylie/Duncanville/Central/Waxahachie geez. Huge bubble
  23. Rough spot for Timber Creek and Keller Central. Really looking forward to that last block with 2 potential medalists and 1 likely champion.
  24. That is true but you never know how much Cedar Ridge improved between Atlanta and San Antonio. Haltom didn’t attend San Antonio and knew that Atlanta would be their last performance. Therefore having a show designed to peak at Atlanta. Not saying they weren’t SA level finalists though. Also, Haltom and Cedar Ridge tied in prelims. In both rounds, Cedar Ridge out performed Haltom in music and visual while Haltom took GE which was ultimately the reason that they ended up on top. It was still very close throughout.
