I love Cy Fair's sound so much!!! I wish they played more than like 45 seconds as a full ensemble..

Foster is very flashy this year! Cool opening double tonguing section. Pretty good continuity from last year's Foster!

Cool show Elkins! (no pun intended) Much better than I was expecting!

Tompkins wowed me! I much prefer their show concept to last year's TWHS is still not my favorite... don't crucify me! I am just not impressed compared to how they usually look/sound at this point in the year. That and design doesn't resonate with me.. They're still performing well enough to win though I bet

I mostly agree with these rankings. I'd have North Shore above clear brook but I worry their mic and electronics issue + maybe timing delay (they started 4 mins late) may hold them back behind. I also had Cinco above Klein Oak. I wasn't sold on the very beginning and very end of Cinco's show but the middle was stunning.

Klein oak was lovely! Was very impressed by Freeman as well. For a first year program it was very encouraging to see how many parent volunteers they had and the student buy in was incredible. They’ll be one to watch in the next 5 years!

I’ll be watching most of prelims today and can throw up my ranking at the end of it but… if last year was any indication… I have 0 idea what I’m talking about with said rankings!

Super curious to see how Cy woods does here. It’ll be so cool to see them go head to head with some central tx big dogs at a contest with a smaller lineup for more direct comparison. They sound great this year!

I completely agree. I would also tentatively add Clear Lake, Klein Cain, Cy Ranch, and JET, to the mix. I have been really impressed with all of their early season showings. Depends on how they all clean and refine these next two weeks. Very deep contest.

There’s a video online of CTJ’s show. I feel like they definitely took a step up in the performance captions WOW! I know their show is called Jade but what exactly is it about? regardless, I didn’t need to know the theme to enjoy their production

Hey all, just came across this link of Cinco Ranch performing at what’s being called the Friendswood Marching Contest. I didn’t know they’d be holding that this year. I know they used to do it the weekend that’s now usually BOA north Houston. anyone know who went and how they did? Cinco looks and sounds great!

My current break down by panel*: Panel 1: Top 5: Vandegrift, Marcus, Reagan, Flower Mound, Cedar Ridge Next 5: TWHS, Dripping Springs, Bowie, Coppell, Pearland Potential spoilers: Dawson, Wylie, Cy Woods, Wylie East, Round Rock, Rock Hill Panel 2: Top 5: Cedar Park, CTJ, Vista Ridge, LD Bell, Hebron Next 5: Leander, Westlake, Keller, Rouse, Cy Fair Potential spoilers: Lake Travis, Hendrickson, MG Johnson, McNeil, Westwood, Keller Central, Forney, Southlake Carroll, Waxahachie These will likely shift around as we have more head to head contests but goodness! *Groups within the same echelon are not in placement order

After this past weekend, I could see Vista Ridge giving Vandegrift a run for their money for 1st place! It'll be exciting to watch

I've seen it but not heard it. They are a lot cleaner than they were at this time last year!

Wow. this is a TOUGH contest! If I recall its top 5 from each panel and then next 4 based on score. Trying to think of the top 5 of each panel gives me like 10 bands/panel!

Re: Vista Ridge I was a bit skeptical at first after the first mvmt, but any doubt was quickly erased in the 2nd. When this gets clean it’ll be an absolute joy to watch! Cool stuff VR

Having seen a lot of videos of bands from this season, I think the aforementioned volatility of Houston bands will be on full display here!
