  1. Because they have a much cooler, less restricted country than ours. I think I will ask my unanswered question that got lost way back there... Why are people grossed out by the thought of eating cats and dogs, yet people raise chickens, ducks, cows, pigs, and other farm animals as pets (not always for meat) and have no problem with eating poultry, pork, and beef?
  2. I am quite partial to Harlingen 2004 and Roma 2003. I am sure most of you don't know about these shows, but Harlingen 2004 placed 15th, I believe, at state, and Roma 2003 placed 4th in 4A state. As far as shows that more people will know about, I like Haltom, LD Bell, and Churchill from 2004; LD Bell and Westfield from 2003; and Duncanville....1991 I believe. Man, now that I think about it, there are A LOT of other shows that are overlooked...
  3. How about tacos with oranges!! Yes, I know, doesn't sound like a good idea either What you might want to consider, especially if you are set on making Phantom, is trying for some sponsorships. I had a couple of friends go to Europe for Sounds of America (SOA) and and they got the $1000+ dollars they needed for that by asking banks and what not. Give it a shot
  4. No...it just sorta happened...by accident of course.
  5. School and band... Why are people grossed out by the thought of eating cats and dogs, yet people raise chickens, ducks, cows, pigs, and other farm animals as pets (not always for meat) and have no problem with eating poultry, pork, and beef?
  6. Taco sales, man, TACO SALES!!
  7. Que que?! X-Men? You wouldn't happen to have a file of that, now would you?
  8. Actually...I can testify that plastic mouthpieces DO infact break.
  9. I hear that Phantom, Cavies, and I think Blue Coats are coming down here sometime. If I had my choice, probably Blue Coats because I really enjoy their shows for some reason. Then second would be Cavies, then Phantom. If not that, then I would probably try for SCV if I could. I do want to try out for Revolution though since I am sure I won't make a division 1 my first year. In addition to that, I would either be playing melo or baritone because I don't shine so much as a trumpet player during marching season as I do concert season.
  10. I'm pretty adamant about spelling things correctly. It's the least we could do for ourselves so that we can educate ourselves to some degree and show signs of becoming smarter. Am I really that big of a loser for being the only person logged on to this site?
  11. I whole-heartedly agree.... Doesn't MTV stand for MUSIC Television anyways? Actually, I do remember when they used to play music other than late at night and other than the crapfest that TRL has become. Those were the good ol' days...
  12. Dear lord... OK, not that I object to the idea of a reality TV show based on marching band, nor the fact that I absolutely despise reality TV, but why do people still watch MTV? MTV's reality TV is so rehearsed that it isn't even funny. Not to mention 95% of it is more dramatic than most situations would actually be. I give congrats to Marcus for being selected to do this, but why MTV? Oh well...maybe I should give MTV a chance and hope that it makes a GOOD television series for a change since about all of it sucks.
  13. What a strong guy. I thought I'd add that the person on the far left looks ABSOLUTELY terrified!
  14. Man....it's not OUR fault us trumpet people are so good Besides, it's not arrogance, it's simply knowing one's place. Most trumpet players, not all, tend to have A type personalities, so that's where the perfectionist spirit comes from. Throw in the fact that if you are a trumpet player, you like to mess around a lot, and you've got the so-called arrogance of trumpet players. Besides...playing trumpet is sexy...I don't recall the last time I ever heard someone playing oboe was sexy
  15. You could be experiencing a number of different problems ranging from a messed up video card to a fried motherboard or even worse...a VIRUS!! Does anyone else (that has actually tried it) think the Nestea Green Tea tastes like crap in comparison to Lipton Green Tea?
  16. Bingo tournaments for funding? What's wrong with you?!? EVERYONE knows that it's the lemonade stands that make money! Or if we want SERIOUS money, we could always...you know...have a "secretive" life at night.
  17. I do agree...a Kingdom Hearts show would be pretty wicked. Some schools have done Final Fantasy shows, but I kind of feel Kingdom Hearts is in a league of its own with music. Not to mention if KH music was incorperated into a show, some of the music would be create some nice set ups for a great visual performance, especially since the music is already used to somewhat tell a story.
  18. I'm assuming teachers have inservice for your school...that's the reason we are having evening rehearsal. For us, it's 4-8 today. Why am I here instead of getting ready for practice?
  19. of course I am...I play trumpet and everyone knows trumpet player = sexy. Monkeys or apes?
  20. This is late Why will people order a sized up double cheeseburger combo from some fast food restaurant and then get a diet coke to go along with it? Why not embrace the artery clogging to its fullest?
  21. Next Monday How much longer do you think we would live if we weren't harmed by the light rays and waves in the air that are created because of our technology?
  22. *drools and foams at the mouth* THAT IS FREAKIN' AWESOME! I loved both the Star Fox Assault (hated the game though) and Smash Bros. Melee soundtracks because they were performed by an orchestra. Not to mention that most of Zelda's music is catchy or emotional, and give that to an orchestra...talk about mind-blowing.
  23. No...it's just school after all. Why do most guys think having so much bass in your car's sound system that you can only hear clashes of thunder is cool?
  24. http://www.videogamepianist.com/ I have always been a big fan of video games, no doubt about that, and the music involved with it. I have to give this man credit though. He has brought many of my childhood songs (Sonic and Mario) to life with a piano. He has made it more than just music...he's put emotion into it, something synthsized music usually lacks. Anyways, check that guy out. Anyways, my main reason behind starting this post is to ask you all something...do you appreciate video game music? Most people think it's silly of me to do so, but I really do appreciate video game music. It is mood setting and some of the best, yet lesser-known, songs have been created for video games. Personally, I am a big fan of the music in the Kingdom Hearts series. How about you?
  25. I wouldn't pay much attention to scores in comparison to other years actually...just if you think about, while some scores have been in the 98 to 99+ range, it implies that the corps were near perfection in that given year. While both the Cavies and Cadets have earned 99+ as a score in 2002 and 2005 repectively, the 1988 SCV scored a little higher than a 98 and was far dirtier than the Cadets and Cavies, both of which still had more errors than what their scores would imply. It really does depend on the judging standards of the judges for each given contest...sort of like how some corps were scoring higher than others at certain contests, but when they were competing against each other, things changed around.
