  1. If Bridgeland builds on or even just maintains what they did this year, I think they're a shoe in for finals. Show was super cleanly constructed and they performed the crap out of it.
  2. Pine Tree submitted enrollment in the 1,250s so they'll almost assuredly move down. They should compete very well in 4A, really enjoyed their show this year and seems like they are on an upswing.
  3. Not sure Pinstriped would have taken down IMO the most seamlessly designed high school show I have ever seen from Broken Arrow in 2021. But woulda been a good matchup.
  4. Davenport very much in the borderline area of moving up. Projected at 1,331 last year.
  5. UIL website is wrong, it's the 7 judge system in finals as well. Give it a chance to get fixed lol
  6. NFHS is much improved this year for me. Not the best video and audio quality but much better than last year. Stream has been way more stable than any of the BOA ones I have watched this year.
  7. State finals is top half bottom half. Source - I teach a band that made finals and this is how our order was determined.
  8. Exciting! Lots of growth in this area, and not just the addition of Randall and West Plains last year. Been seeing tons of improvement top to bottom. Andrews, Big Spring, Pecos, Riverside, and a lot of other bands have been getting exponentially better up here as of late. Really excited three more bands will get to experience area finals, and one more will get to advance to state. Was really exciting seeing two area A bands in state finals and a third really close last year. Getting really competitive up here!
  9. What they are able to do being so isolated away from remotely anything is pretty incredible. I don't know if you've seen where Clovis is on a map but it's truly in the middle of nowhere between OKC and Albuquerque. Lots of phenomenal teaching and results considering what they have to work with being so land locked. Historically they've been pretty strong but 2018 to now they've especially taken what they do up a notch. St. Louis in 2018 was especially remarkable.
  10. Hondo should do well here, moved down from 4A.
  11. Still obsessed with Dobyns-Bennett. Been awhile since a show in the realm of the marching arts has hit what I personally love most that hard
  12. Dobyns-Bennett one of my favorite shows and finals runs since I started watching. Magical. They’ll fit right in Open. Franklin had an incredible finals run, and that Holly Springs show was magical. The Magnolia Project in IA stole my heart too. Can’t wait for tomorrow!
  13. As someone who went to school and now teaches in Region 1 (that's why I'm not very active on here anymore :), gotta say I am so so so proud of what I think is the best showing from Area A ever in 4A, or at least in a very long time. Canyon - 6th Randall - 10th West Plains - 14th Strong showing from Panhandle in 2A as well placing 2nd in prelims and 5th in finals. It's easy to feel like we get lost in the discussions being all the way up here, but definitely made ourselves known this week.
  14. Super proud of Odessa Permian. 2016 - 37th 2021 - 33rd 2022 - 29th Beat some really good bands today. A little better every year.
  15. I can’t think of a high school marching competition with a more stacked lineup of percussion sections. Feel like there could be lots of movement in that caption tomorrow just because of how deep it is.
  16. There is now a high cam option!!! Thank you NFHS.
  17. If they could just have a high cam option I would be happy.
  18. Camera panning makes me nauseated.
  19. Was fun in 2019 when I didn't really know what to expect and they ended up 7th in prelims ahead of Haltom, Timber Creek, Wylie, etc. I think their odds are good this year as well.
  20. Spoke too soon. Region 6 got hammered pretty hard across the board.
  21. Netted a one over last year in both 4A and 6A, it's likely we'll see one more band advance from Area to State in both 4A and 6A in Area A. Socorro and Clint both received 2s last year and a 1 on Saturday. If all else holds from last year with a little more wiggle room in 4A, I'm guessing 4 in 4A and 3 in 6A will advance to state. Randall and West Plains are new to 4A in Area A and will almost surely get a 1.
