The Seguin trombones have shirts that say, "Rock out with your Bach out!" as in Bach trombone of course...

TxBands Musical Talent Competition!
Moose replied to mnkyman's topic in Drill Writers, Arrangers, and Composers Corner
Yes. -
Most entertaining - Southwind - A distorted reality . If you havent seen it, I have a video, Ill probably be able to upload it here. This show is awesome. I could watch it over and over again. I cant wait to see Southwind 06. Best overall - Phantom Regiment - Rhapsody. The judges obviously disagree with me, but I had them in first. Definately the crowd favoite. Nice new direction for Phantom.

Seguin High - 35-40 ish. Winterguard is divided into A and B guard, with each having about 20.

I would really like to see Leander bring it back next year. I really enjoyed the 05 show, and really expected it to place better than 30th at BOA SA. Another band that has been on the rise lately is Judson. I expect great things from them in 06. -
Email him and ask him, I'd be interested to know how he feels about that.

In random order: Boston Crusaders - 2003 - An unusual pick, but the crusaders really sold the show that year. Fast paced drill, a massive snare line and a loud as crap hornline bring it all together. Cavaliers - 2000 - This show was about as close to perfect as you can get as far as design goes. The drill and music are so complementary of each other, and every little detail makes perfect sense. Star of Indiana - 1993 - If you have never seen this show, you need to. It is minimalism at its best. I love the random colorguard equipment, and random body movement. The music makes all the visual randomness seem logical.

I have a link to the recording, but it doesn't work. I emailed George, but he probably won't get back to me before tomorrow anyway. I may be the only one, but I am very excited about this innovation. It doesn't even matter if you like it or not, you should be glad that this activity is evolving. The Cadets are stretching it in a new direction, and if you don't like it, you can be sure someone else is stretching it the other way. That is what I love about Drum Corps.

From George Hokins himself... Cadets to Add the Human Voice to the 2006 Production A year or so ago, following the 2004 season, there was a questionnaire filled in by the corps members. At such time, the message was clear -- the students wanted to be a part of a corps that stretched the limits of what the corps was about. They knew the tradition, and they also knew the innovation. Frankly, they were encouraging us to choose innovation. The 2005 show was the result of this return to the non-traveled path, and the journey continues in 2006. We have looked for concept, creations, and coordination options that are not the usual. One addition to the show in 2006 is voice. Despite the fact that we are aware some are less than happy with the addition, we believe the emotion of voice adds a new element to what we are offering the audience, as well as the members. Yes, sometimes, voice can be used for narration, but in this piece, the color and mood added is nothing that brass instruments can emulate. This is a first recording and of course there is much to work out: Volume issues

Don't worry about it, post count really means absolutely nothing. I'm a moderator and still in middle school. Posting intelligent and respestful things will earn you respect way faster than a huge post count number.

Tyler, a percussionist from my old school, was fitfth and they took four. I told him it was no shame, he lost to three kids from langham creek and one from reagan. -
