Does anyone know if retreat will be live streamed?
-
That one was my son's favorite show so far this year, though I think his favorite musical piece has been Malagueña. Their annual Patriotic Show is coming up next, I think.
My personal favorite (possibly bc my kid was a trumpet player in this show) is the Hot Brass show from 2016.
That said...the "Celebrate Texas" show from that same year has a rendition of "Texas, Our Texas" that gets me every time.
Sorry to hijack the thread with TTU talk...

Congratulations to Prosper for making GNats finals! Way to rep Texas!!

This crew worked extra hard to put this together, and it's worth it. Trombone suicides are one of the most clever and creative things band kids do. Harrowing and impressive and fun all at once.
-
Is there a free live stream of retreat? I've searched and couldn't find it.

I love Cooper's show so much! I smiled from recess bell to recess bell. It is so fun! We saw it at Midland BOA and they have added so much. Great entertainment!!

there is a picnic area designated for the bands to eat away from the buses
Curious...where is this picnic area?

It’s all good. Folks are crazy sensitive right now and that’s to be expected. I apologize if I offended any Westlake band kids here in this forum. They absolutely work as hard as anyone and they deserved to place in the upper tier on Saturday night in Area H. I’m grateful for the rule that allows a fourth band to go if they were given 3s by at least 3 of the judges. It worked out well for both bands.
DO. NOT. MESS. WITH. LEANDERMOMMA! You WILL incur the wrath of this forum! She is our honorary band mom, even if she might just be the same age or younger than some of us!
Seriously...nobody is more gracious and supportive here. There's no shade thrown, just love and support for all of these kids killing it and working their d***dest. Let's lighten up.
This is a remarkable time for marching band in Texas. More people than ever are engaged and interested, and the programs across the board seem to be getting stronger and more competitive. Let the football teams hate. Let's continue to support the arts and the tremendous acts these kids are putting on the field.

Speaking of the greatness of Area B--if you haven't seen this story cross your FB feed yet, try to tune in to NBC in DFW tonight at 10 for this story out of Keller High. Truly inspirational and a reminder that this world is still good, and band kids are still the best.:

I would assume from the fact that they are on the UIL State Schedule that they are not backing out.
I'm looking for confirmation...plans need to be made, work schedules arranged, etc. I was hoping a Prosper parent, etc, or someone definitely in the know could chime in.
-
Can anyone confirm that Prosper will definitely attend the State competition, given that they have GN in Indy the same week? If they do not, what happens? Does Timber get a slot at that point? Asking for a

Wow, thanks for all of the parking and restaurant info. I should be good! I know I have probably been in that area before (my MIL lives not too far away), but I couldn't remember specifics.
Taking a break from food rankings to post something I forgot to about actual logistics.
Shuttle is prelims only from the Legacy Church of Christ parking lot from 10a - 6p (8801 Mid Cities Blvd, North Richland Hills, TX 76182)
Also, this event is CASH AND CHECK ONLY. No credit cards will be accepted. $3 for students 6-17, $5 adults, under 6 is free
This and more information is available at https://www.uilregion5music.org/area-marching-band/

You guys are forgetting last year's winner. (Chik-fil-A)

Ahhhh, didn't realize it was near the Legacy C of C! I've been there many times. Good people there, and the parking lot is HUGE!
I am told there will be a school bus acting as shuttle from the Legacy CofC parking lot for prelims only, from 10am - 6pm. Legacy is a little under a mile from the stadium.

Is anyone at Region 30?
-
It would have been just past midnight. And I don’t see anything wrong with that.
Isn't there a noise ordinance around Pennington that would have prevented this from going past midnight? I thought I saw someone else say something about that.
-
Did anyone else catch the KISD marching expo tonight? I thought both Keller and Timber Creek were very strong. Central has a very pretty show as well.

Congrats to all the kids that have worked so hard this year. Been a band dad a long time and a marching band fan longer, and I don't think there has ever been a field this entertaining and exciting from 1 all the way into the twenties and beyond.
Congrats to Vandy on SMBC and Hebron on BOA (Texas) Grand Nats.
Anyone worried that a pandemic had put a damper on arts activities like this need not be concerned any more. Great year for Texas music.
