natertater21000
It has just been announced that jeremy Spicer of vandegrift and cedar park has been announced as the new head director of the rouse band program. This is awesome! This could definitely be a 5 horse race in a few years in LISD.
principalagent
Willing to bet that by 2017, Rouse makes it to 5A State finals and makes their first BOA regional finals as well.
BlackJesus
How the rest of the marching band world is taking this
natertater21000
I know others may not want this but as a Leander alumnus it would be so cool to see half of BOA Austin finals be compromised of Leander isd.
Samuel Culper
It will be interesting to see who the director will be at Glenn.
natertater21000
I've not heard any rumors about who exactly it'll be but I've heard from a reliable source that the choice will come as a kind "oh wow, no way" thing much like Spicer going to rouse
gottamarch
News is out for Glenn. Â It is the director from Bowie.
Samuel Culper
Wow. That is awesome. I was convinced they would draw from inside the district.
principalagent
I wonder if James Bowie will still go to GN.
natertater21000
That's crazy, barring no drastic changes to the top tier programs in 5 years the district will be absolutely ridiculous ( it already is) but this could be an unprecedented concentration of power house marching ensembles. LHSax
Really surprised to see that Spicer didn't end up at Glenn instead...Really odd to see him bounce around the way he has...don't really know what is end game is. Either way, whatever he touches turns to gold, so good for Rouse!
natertater21000
Well before when he was over here at Texas state his end game seemed to be higher education, but after seeing this I'm guessing he must have just missed teaching. As far as why rouse and not Glenn, it's very possible Glenn had already committed to the bowie director before Spicer decided for sure to go back to teaching. Samuel Culper
It could also be that the Bowie director wanted to go to a brand new school and have the experience of setting traditions and this way the district got both directors. bandamonium
As of right now there is no indication that the director change at Bowie will be affecting their Grand Nats bid. Interesting story line to say the least. Anyone have anymore news on other groups that will be doing anything this year?
