  1. As of right now there is no indication that the director change at Bowie will be affecting their Grand Nats bid. Interesting story line to say the least. Anyone have anymore news on other groups that will be doing anything this year?
  2. So who is in Area D? Did the old proposal to move RR ISD out of Area D happen? Or is everyone who was in Area D 6A still there except for Leander and Eanes ISD?
  3. 2016 Nationals is on Cedar Park's calendar as well as many meetings for it so it appears they are going to make a showing too. https://www.charmsoffice.com/charms/calendar.asp?cb=2771028 Haven't heard anything about Northeast ISD schools yet be we at least have Cedar Park, James Bowie, and Leander attending Grand Nationals next year.
  4. So according to what I've seen, the list of Texas Bands has increased. Attending 2016 Grand Nationals - Leander Cedar Park James Bowie Claudia Taylor Johnson Ronald Reagan Winston Churchill Wakeland
  5. This is right about the time that a lot of big announcements for next year's trips come rolling out. If anyone has information about upcoming trips for different bands, post them here.
  6. Weather looks all clear for the day! Storms have passed. Great day for marching band!
  7. You have no right to say such. There may not be enough "proof" for you to believe they've been working hard, but Bands of America is a high quality marching band circuit well known nationwide and I highly doubt they just sat around and didn't exercise every option they could. Just because we don't get the most ideal outcome does not mean that you should discredit efforts made for the last 18 hours to accomadate programs. Let's all be mature about this and understand that that's how life is. It's not always ideal and may not be as clear cut as we think it is.
  8. Strange for Leander to go in as exhibition in between judging.... Don't know what to think
  9. Dripping Springs and Anderson have. That's all I've seen thus far.
  10. An update on the weather looks like much of the wet weather will push through before 8am which will give way to mostly sunny skies and a high of 83. Great conditions for competition!
  11. It appears that the schedule could be intact but rather there was a lottery for openings in the schedule whether it was a break or before/after the 2nd round of prelims. Perhaps it's possible Bowie asked CTJ if they could switch times since CTJ is in the San Antonio area? I just don't understand all the backlash and I don't think it's right for us to speculate and lash out at programs based on their luck of the draw. BOA is doing their job. Accomadations were made to these programs for missing their original scheduled time and they are trying to fix tomorrow's schedule accordingly.
  12. With over 60 bands in this super regional it would be very hard for judges to place bands the most accurately. I really would hate for there to be no finals for this competition. Trying to place 26 bands versus double that is quite different especially when it's over the course of two days.
  13. I think the problem was that with the uncertainty of inclement weather that bands that go on early also don't know if they could get there on time. It's possible Bowie asked if they could be pushed back as well. Luck of the draw I suppose.
  14. Does anyone know where to find the full redrawn schedule for tomorrow? I'm curious what the lineup is now with everything changed.
  15. So it looks like the rumor was true. Wow! Big change from 7:15am to 4:30pm.
  16. Rumor is that 2nd round of prelims redrew meaning bands that were originally supposed to go early are now possibly later. Very very unique San Antonio this year!
  17. After Area D it's very clear Cedar Park and Leander are at the top right now. One slight alteration in judging could put either of them in the top spot. I think it's clear with less than a week left that the LISD schools will be dominating this one yet again. 1/2. Leander 1/2. Cedar Park 3-5. Vista Ridge 3-5. Vandegrift 3-5. Wakeland 6/7. Centennial (Wildcard) 6/7. Dripping Springs 8 to 10 is hard to tell for me as I'm not familiar with the less BOA involved 5A groups such as Forney, etc.
  18. Yeah in some ways I think Bowie and FloMo will be fighting for GE with other groups like Hebron, Marcus, and Reagan thrown in the mix.
  19. Just a thought, but Bowie has won the GE caption at both competitions they went to this year. They beat Ronald Reagan, Leander, and Cedar Park respectively in this caption. Definitely doesn't seem to be a disadvantage to them.
  20. Top 6 (random order) Hebron Flower Mound Claudia Taylor Johnson James Bowie Leander Ronald Reagan Finals locks (random order) Marcus The Woodlands Cedar Park Round Rock Bubble- Vandegrift Vista Ridge Hendrickson Westlake Wakeland Keller Coppell Cedar Ridge Captions- Music- Ronald Reagan Flower Mound Hebron Leander Visual- James Bowie Ronald Reagan Hebron Flower Mound General Effect- Flower Mound James Bowie Ronald Reagan Hebron
  21. If I had to order top 10 GN placement right now I'd probably put it- Broken Arrow Avon (slightly trailing) Hebron The Woodlands Carmel Round Rock William Mason Marian Catholic Blue Springs Homestead Keller (11) We will see how much that opinion changes after San Antonio.
  22. Had the privilege of being at the homecoming game for Bowie. They performed after the game and the rain started coming down. Reminded me a lot of their Westlake marching festival performance from 2013. Their energy was amazing! By far the best I've seen from them in some time. They've cleaned up quite well and I do believe that this late-blooming show has some potential to do some serious damage in San Antonio if they bring that kind of intensity next weekend. Their General Effect has been very strong all season, taking the caption in both of their competitions and their visuals have buffed out nicely. That energy and intensity brought back their dark Bowie sound and musicality they've been missing. Really great program. Hard to believe they could be anywhere from 1st to 10th in San Antonio, but the competition has been very tight all season!
  23. I agree as well. Looking at the prelims schedule I'd say Leander and Cedar Park are probably locks for state qualification, and with Vista Ridge and Dripping Springs going earlier in the contest I could definitely see Conally slipping in. I think Vandegrift is pretty solid and out of any of the LISD groups I would say Vista Ridge is the only one not safe in prelims. Locks- Leander Cedar Park Likely Contenders- Dripping Springs Vandegrift Bubble- Vista Ridge Conally
