Is the Glenn HS guard basically Round Rock 2023 all over again?

Evidently the “higher ups” at the Glenn HS band have suddenly decided that their guard can not have a winter guard season. No students or parents were consulted, nor was the guard director even made aware of their decision beforehand. They gave a fairly innocuous explanation (they thought their fall season was rough, it’s too expensive, blah, blah, blah), but the guard director had already paid the fees to register them in the 2026 competitions he wanted them to compete in. Evidently none of that matters and the poor kids are just out of luck. What really blows my mind is that Glenn HOSTS WGI AUSTIN! Like whhaaatttt? And the guard is expected to WORK it! I’m so confused and I feel TERRIBLE for the guard members at Glenn who have been denied an opportunity to perform this winter. I have heard a few stories that also have me quite concerned but I don’t think this is the place to share them. I just want these kiddos to have the winterguard experience they signed up for and PAID for. And deserve.
