Don't discount McNeil, Bowie, or CTJ. This is a very deep area.

This is the hardest area in Texas. Someone big is going to get left out and to me it’s between dripping or round rock. Moe and Gene has good shot at winning and going to state finals to be honest, after Tmc.

I think you make very solid points. Curious though, I haven’t seen CTJ since BOA San Marcos. Do you see them beating DS to move on to state?

Sorry, I meant Round Rock, not DS.

This area is brutal. I would argue it’s the toughest one in the state.

Year after year it only gets harder. Dripping Springs moving up, M&GJ opening and the rise of programs like Hutto, Westwood and McNeil.

Not to mention the mainstays are ridiculously talented too. All the RRISD bands and the NEISD bands don’t make this easy.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t worried about Round Rocks chances.

I think right now the five I see advancing pretty safely are in no order Reagan, M&GJ, Cedar Ridge.

Everyone else I could see a case for being in or out.

I do think CTJ is a safe call. They’re not the band they used to be but this new version of CTJ is really nailing it at UIL over BOA so I feel comfortable having them in.

That fifth spot is going to be brutal. I don’t even want to try and predict who’s gonna be in. Right now my moneys on James Bowie but I really have no idea and I could be very wrong.

I'd honestly put Dripping Springs in that group of safely in. It feels like I've only seen them maintain their high performance level throughout this season. (but also area judging can be weird so who knows for sure lmao)

Didn't dripping spirngs beat cedar ridge and ctj already so I feel like I would as well put them as a safety to move on to state over ctj and round rock.

If we're taking about the 2025 season, DS placing over CR/CTJ was nearly a month ago. Since then CR took 1st in Waco and CTJ 3rd in South Houston. Then the gap seemed to widen between DS, MGJ, and Reagan in just two weeks (SM > TMC). With how this season has progressed in scoring, it's a bit difficult to make calls based on who beat who. 

 

I could see DS safe for a spot but if that's upset by anyone else then it'll be a fight for the last one.

I agree! Westlake also beat Cedar Ridge in Austin. Many people thought Westlake would be in contention for gold in waco but that didn't happen. We all know Cedar Ridge is a late bloomer and with their full show now on the field they are a major contender at Area. DS is fantastic and they have been consistent and I believe they will make it.

I'm realllllllyyyyy curious to see whose gonna take those last 2. My only locks right now are MG Johnson, Reagan, and Cedar Ridge. I feel like next two will be CTJ and DS, but I don't think it's impossible to see Round Rock snag a spot....prob from CTJ imo but they're having a much stronger season and even last year they still placed 3rd after the director changes, but like yeah, 5 is tough....
