Cosmo Posted October 28, 2025 Posted October 28, 2025 Does the addition of the new waxahachie school in 2027 jeopardize waxahachie high’s placement in 6a for the 2026-2028 cycle? Or will that only affect them in 2028? Quote

BugWub24 Posted October 30, 2025 Posted October 30, 2025 With snapshot day coming up in a couple days, I did a look at the previous two cycles worth of enrollment numbers for 5A/6A Area C to have a good idea of how things could end up, pending the official cutoff numbers. Royse City and Waxahachie won't be affected on this year's cycle, as each of their second high schools will both be opening in 2027. Worthy Fate (RCISD) will open with just freshman and sophomores, and will likely start out as a 4A. Same with Waxahachie Creek. In Region 3, it looks to be all the same with one exception - I see Rowlett easily moving down to 5A. They've declined in enrollment over the past few years, and they were right on the 6A cutoff this past cycle. Obviously, there are no Region 4 schools even close to 6A, but I could see Sulphur Springs moving up to 5A based on recent trends. Region 20 is where some interesting things could happen. Berkner is the smallest in RISD, and enrollment there has been declining, so depending on the cutoff, they could potentially move down to 5A. On the other hand, Red Oak has seen increased enrollment, and could potentially move up to 6A (pending the official cutoff, of course). Finally, in Region 21, not much change, except I could see Lindale moving up to 5A if recent trends maintain. Longview was on the cutoff this past cycle, but they increased in enrollment significantly from the previous cycle, so I expect them to stay in 6A. Quote
LostChoirGuy Posted October 30, 2025 Posted October 30, 2025 Is the new school in Northwest ISD opening next year? Any other schools opening next year that will affect enrollments? Quote
crunchycookie3 Posted October 30, 2025 Posted October 30, 2025 Several of the Frisco ISD schools were rather close to the 6a threshold the last cycle. Could this be the first time we see a 6a school in FISD? Assuming area J stays in tact, it would become even more competitive Quote

dfwhorn Posted October 31, 2025 Author Posted October 31, 2025 Good morning and HAPPY SNAPSHOT DAY!!! We will soon hopefully know the enrollment figures of a lot of school that will be making the jump or drop to a conference, so stay tuned! Pit123456 1 Quote
waynet2010 Posted October 31, 2025 Posted October 31, 2025 Looks like Sulphur Springs may be staying in 4A with 1,254.5 students Quote
Pit123456 Posted October 31, 2025 Posted October 31, 2025 Where will we start seeing these enrollment numbers ? Quote

waynet2010 Posted October 31, 2025 Posted October 31, 2025 Panther Creek is going to be right near the number of moving up at 1352. Quote
wtxbd02 Posted October 31, 2025 Posted October 31, 2025 Celina and Panther Creek definitely moving up to 5A. Football world consensus is the cutoff will be around 1,250 since enrollment around the state is down. waynet2010 and Anthony V 2 Quote
wtxbd02 Posted October 31, 2025 Posted October 31, 2025 Sulphur Springs is right on the bubble of where the 4A cutoff will be. In Area A looks like Plainview could move down to 4A with their submission of 1,247. Quote
dfwhorn Posted October 31, 2025 Author Posted October 31, 2025 Richland is at 1796, the new one in prosper, they are very much safely in 5A for this year. PHS, RH, and WG are now near each other in enrollment too, 2605, 2530, and 2476 respectively. Quote
dfwhorn Posted October 31, 2025 Author Posted October 31, 2025 Also some other schools are now at risk of dropping down to 5A with large enrollment drops (notably Little Elm at 2444, Boswell to 2402, and Legacy at 2190, they could all be successful at the 5A level, but this depends on the bubble.) Community is also at 1488, welcome to 5A!!! Melissa counts at 2204, they can now be considered in contention for 6A. Imagine an Area J with them, McKinney North, maybe a frisco school and Walnut Grove. That would be nearing 25 bands, maybe more if we see unexpected growth from some other schools! Quote

Theres a couple schools I'm curoious about that could jump or drop that I haven't seen their numbers for yet. Quote

You're right about the decreasing, so that sounds about right. If it was even 2400 cutoff that would be a significantly smaller 6A Quote
waynet2010 Posted October 31, 2025 Posted October 31, 2025 Celina definitely moving up no doubts at 1,520. Quote
gee5 Posted November 1, 2025 Posted November 1, 2025 Rouse turns in 2460, a lock for 6A. slowbrass 1 Quote

wtxbd02 Posted November 1, 2025 Posted November 1, 2025 Hearing Cedar Park also likely to be in 6A. lost 1 Quote
wtxbd02 Posted November 1, 2025 Posted November 1, 2025 A 4A drop that could be instantly very interesting is El Paso Hanks. They've been trending down a lot recently and were at 1,364 last year on the TEA Enrollment Report which was a drop of 32 from the last realignment. I'm not sure if they'll QUITE get there but would instantly be an Area A contender and state finalist contender. Have heard Kaufman will also be close but just rumors. 5A Honor Band Finalist last year and really solid marching band that would instantly contend for state finals. I would surprised if they dropped but have read a few rumors on the football forums. Quote
