Different contest, different dynamics, but Sachse was ranked literally right next to Southlake and LD Bell at San Antonio last season. Same judging panel, too. It’s not out of the realm of possibility. I don’t necessarily see them outscoring most of those groups, particularly Prosper or Keller (Aledo is a wild card but had a GREAT 2024 season), but certainly being side-by-side with them.

Also, Southlake is only doing prelims so they’re a non-factor.

Yes forget about SLC so yeah I could def see them take that last spot.

I just don’t see them over Southlake, LD Bell, Aledo, Keller and Prosper for bottom half or any of the other 6

wild opinion.. i see sachse around the 6-7 range... show theme and everything looks VERY promising (i'll see that friday night against coppell)

This year to me will determine Sachse’s future, but if they can make state this year with their brand new director coming from a 4a school I can only see them getting a lot better every year cause now the director got a lot of resources to work with

What I’m hoping from Sachse and this new director is that they stay good all the time. They have really jumped all around Area C. Here’s what I mean:

2021: 4th

2022: 9th

2023: 17th

2024: 1st

If this doesn’t confuse you I don’t know what will. So hopefully they can stay on a course of being good and it’s consistent.

I agree with that and I also added 2018: 6th and all of that is average to placement of around 7.5 with all 5 of those years which is not bad 23 for some reason wasn’t a good year though

Wait can anyone explain what happened to sachse in 2023??? Like the big jump has a lot to do with Area J being introduced but surely that can't explain all of that jump?

They just wasn’t as strong? I saw them at boa prosper and though they was pretty solid, def not a 17th place show imo but just had some ensemble sound issues that literally disappeared the next season. But I think they’ll be at state for a while now

that 23 show in all honesty, was not even half of what pervious years shows were

with this area c, i feel like it's easier for a school like sachse to stay consistent around that 1-3 range and hopefully they keep producing great themes like the 24 show and a bit of this one

The creation of Area J had a lot to do with the sudden resurgence, but it still doesn't explain how they went from Lakeview making Area Finals over them to winning Area C and beating Waxahachie in the process the very next year. My mind is still blown at how they were able to fix their ensemble sound issues essentially overnight.

With the new director, I'm confident the ensemble sound will continue to get better (especially with his recent concert band accolades). With the new Area music judging, I'm interested to see how they will place in those categories this year.

My band isn't supper familiar with BOA, how many bands make finals? Is it like UIL Area where for every 5 bands there is a finals slot or is it like a base 10 bands make finals? Also does anyone have the score sheet from last year?

12 Bands advance to finals, and here is the finals scoresheet from last year:

Thanks a lot, my band went last year and we unfortunately didn't make finals, I believe we got 15 though with a score of 72.4 maybe. Im glad to see that the competition was so tight. There truly are lots of good schools where 1 good run from one school and another to just have an off day could totally change the finals route. Would love to see some new faces in finals even if its not my school.

Here is a better scoresheet of prelims that puts all of the placements in order as well as the rankings in each caption.

In my outrageously biased opinion, Wylie East is GUNNING for that (seemingly) final Finals placement

I wouldn’t say that’s outrageous. They look a lot better than last year and their show might have more general effect this year.

i feel like the contest is very top heavy.. like 1-4 is easy to figure out, but 5-12 are honestly up for grabs. just need to see how all the bands do these next 3 weeks.. i have wylie east at 9 (ish)

ill reply to myself and do mine too

1 hebron

2 flomo

3 Coppell

4 Wakeland

5 TC

6 Wax

7 Prosper

8 Lone Star

9 Keller

10 Aledo

11 LD Bell

12 Sachse

also 12: Wylie East, KC

This BOA will be a good one! I am indecisive between Hebron and Flomo for first, I think none of them will sweep captions. Coppell and Wakeland can be interchangable, and that battle for top half too! As for the final spots, it will be a bloodbath but I’ll have sachse on 12 for now but again that last spot can be a wild card!

For me I like the list but I’ll move Keller up and move waxa down a little other than that I feel 6-12 could go in any order

finally dipping my hand in these predictions
1. hebron
2. flomo
3. coppell
4. wakeland
5. prosper
6. TC
7. wax
8. keller
9. aledo
10. sachse
11. lone star
12. LD Bell/Wylie East (i feel like LD Bell is a bit overrated this year, same for WE)
