CON=content, how difficult/complex is the music/visual demand the performers are trying to accomplish. ACV= achievement, how well do the performers achieve the content that has been given to them. there is a whole other layer you see in DCI where better achievement can result in higher content scores because the content becomes more clear the better it is achieved, but that’s the gist. dullbanddad and anotherbandmom 2 Quote

Keller having to go super early and play between Vista and The Woodlands really hurt them IMO. ChristopherRoden 1 Quote

It was also an opportunity to show that they belonged. Vista and TW being so close together score-wise and Keller being so far away is a clear message from the panel that one of these things is not like the others. Even then, their visual scores had them solidly in finals. It was their music scores across the board that were what kept them out of finals. Quote

Though as I haven’t seen the scores and could only speculate, I thought it would have been the reverse. They are usually solid on music (brass and woodwinds) and usually lower in visual and GE. Quote

I would say that is traditionally true of Keller but not this year. I think they still play very well but the strength of this show is visual. STUNNING visual package, I have a feeling they will do well at BOA SA. Chippy 1 Quote

I thought they more than held their own with the schools they were sandwhiched between, and thought it was actually going to guarantee them a spot in finals. I hadn't seen Keller yet all season and was absolutely floored by the quality of their performance. Def the most shocking result for me. AWF2014 1 Quote
Popular Post hsbandnerd212 Posted November 4, 2025 Popular Post Posted November 4, 2025 Thought I’d do some trivia here. Total number of appearances in finals at the UIL 6A (formerly 5A) State Marching Contest, 2025 participants edition (2025 finalists are bolded) : -12: Marcus -11: Coppell, Hebron, Ronald Reagan, The Woodlands -8: Flower Mound, L. D. Bell -7: Keller, Vandegrift -6: Permian, Vista Ridge -5: Claudia Taylor Johnson -4: Cedar Ridge, Westlake -3: Pearland, Waxahachie -2: Bridgeland, Cy-Fair, Seven Lakes -1: Clements (2004), Dripping Springs (2025), Dickinson (1980), North Shore (2016), Prosper (2025) Extra Notes: - Hebron, Marcus, and Vandegrift's finals appearances have all been consecutive. - Vandegrift has made it to 6A finals every year since they moved up to 6A. They also have not placed lower than 4th in all of their 6A State Contest appearances, including in prelims. - Permian did extremely well in the early to mid-1980s, placing no lower than 3rd in finals from 1980 to 1985 and winning the whole thing in 1982. This was also during a time when the (formerly) 5A state contest was held every year. This is all according to the UIL Marching Band State Archives and this year's finalists line-up. I’m excluding 2020 since that was a weird year and it only seemed to have one round of judging. I am including 2002 in these calculations since finals would have been held had it not been for inclement weather that year (this only applies to L. D. Bell and The Woodlands). Also, I’m well aware that the number of finalists on a given year has changed over time. Heck, in 2014, the number of finalists was at ten, and as recent as 2002, the number of finalists was at seven! Austen, RandomGuardPerson and dtxdrummer 3 Quote

Ruprecht88 Posted November 4, 2025 Posted November 4, 2025 Anyone know who all is on the judges panel for finals? I believe there is only one carryover from prelims. Quote
Popular Post utee94 Posted November 4, 2025 Popular Post Posted November 4, 2025 Cedar Park band loaning our semi tractor and trailer to the Vandy band to get their gear back down to San Antonio for Finals this afternoon, and Leander Band sent their truck and trailer on super short notice to bring them back last night.
