Dang little celina is hanging with the big boys. I remember when that town was nothing but corn fields and cow pastures. 
 

Happy for argyle too. I’ve been waiting on them to make their move and really make their presence known in 5A.

It’s basically who got the lowest placement by any judge and McKinney had a lower lowest placement by the judges. (I’m pretty sure)

The show is called Joy. Thank you for your comments, i will share them with others in the band. As a two year Freshman-Sophomore school, it was an honor marching in this competition and watching the other shows.

Please help me underatand?? I HONESTLY thought it was boring compared to the other schools. I do not get it! Nice technique and clean but not in the same league as canton, China springs and sulphir springs IMO.

I am really am suprised that we got second.(RHB member here). I belived we would get to top three, I was really suprised we didnt get any caption awards either. Shout out to independence high school, THEY TRAINED THERE BAND TO BE COLOR GUARD, it was an awesome show.

It’s because musicality and marching clean win now. They are basically a marching concert band and that show is a hard one this year. Sure SS and CS are exciting, but there are a lot of bad sounds and sloppy marching. Can they clean it up and do well later in the season? Absolutely!

that’s not in independence’s show, you’re probably thinking of memorial!

This right here is what judges tend to look for. The band that comes in with great musical techniques and marching techniques that perform their show well tend to place higher. If I'm correct, creativity comes into play with Bands of America and State. But overall, every band did amazing, no matter what the results said at the end of the day. Even i had my personal favorites (Belton)

^ All of that! The judges sheets don't focus on and list criteria for excitement, volume, etc. it's always things like precision, quality, consistency, accuracy, etc. #CleanWins

If you’re thinker of the show about X, then you’re talking about Memorial. Independence went before Memorial so you might have gotten them mixed up.

Yeah we were at mesquite as our first performance (it was our first time in 2 years) I'm glad you knew about it and it was in fact not a dress rehearsal we don't have the full closer learned yet (sadly)

If you're referring to the 8 minutes, a lot of non UIL Texas contests will run that clock to give bands a chance to practice timing of show starts with announcements, see where they are, etc.  

I am just guessing here but that's usually the case at these kinds of shows.

This is my assumption as well. No penalty at non-UIL contests. Penalty at UIL contests.
