I’ve just realized a moment ago, that seven lakes is the only band in area I 6A to have advanced to state all the years of Area I!!

I just notice that too haha a little fun fact.

I agree with Dave. I could also see HS Band #10 take the win too!!! Unfortunately, I think Hebron was placed too high though. I'd have them in the 11 - 16 range tbh.

Mostly agree! :)
I say 7L and woods should switch.
Then cinco I’m not sure if they would make finals their show is just “different” from the other ones.

I think peatow could sneak in there too. Their show has LOTS of potential!!!!!!

Yeah, I’ve been having that same feeling about Cinco..their show just doesn’t really “resonate” with me? It’s an interesting show but just feels cardboard-boxing ad feel? Weird mind-intricacy on my part but it’s just different, hope cinco is fine!

I wish we had something more concrete to base these predictions on than reputation. We need to start doing recon missions and posting videos here for analysis 😄

I can catch Tompkins and Cy-Ranch next Saturday or Thursday, not sure but that should be a good match up, football as well!!
After that I’ll catch Bridgeland or Woods that following week.

3. Cy-Woods

---

4-6: Jordan, Seven Lakes, Tompkins (complete toss-up)

7. Katy

8. Cinco Ranch

9. JET

10. Langham Creek

If 4 schools in addition to all of the KISD and CFISD schools earn 1s at region, then we'll see 5 state spots, but certainly not 6. Otherwise, we're looking at 4 spots to state from this incredibly stacked area. Right now, I'd put money on Jordan in 4th due to the school's young age and rapid growth, though last year Tompkins came out swinging at area and Seven Lakes is always hard to count out. Can't wait to see what these programs have in store this year!

Why Cy-Fair over Bridgeland? I’m not hating on Cy-Fair, I actually liked their show more than Bridgeland’s last year; I’m just curious.

that what I’m worry about in this area that we could lose a state spot. Wouldn’t the finals spots go to 7? Correct?

Not quite - but after the rules changes from the past with prelims finals it's easy to get mixed up on things. Below is a copy paste directly from the UIL Rules. For the Area there SHOULD be over 20 groups in prelims, which means 10 Advance to Finals.

(1) 9 Or Fewer Bands. If there are 9 or fewer bands, the preliminary round will stand as the final round. The top 50% of the competing bands will be recognized as finalists and will receive a finalist award, while the remaining bands will receive a participant award. There will be a drum major retreat held at the end of the competition to announce the results. The names of those bands advancing to the state marching band contest will be announced.

(2) 10 to 19 Bands. If there are 10 to 19 bands, the top 7 bands will advance from the preliminary round to the final round. In addition, any band below seventh place that receives a ranking of three or higher from at least two of the music judges and one of the marching judges will also advance to the final round. The two marching judges and two of the music judges will change captions. There will be a drum major retreat at the end of preliminary round to announce the results. Bands not advancing to the final round will receive a participant award. At the end of the final round there will be a drum major retreat where each band will receive a finalist award and the names of those bands advancing to the state marching band contest will be announced. Under extenuating circumstances such as severe weather or limited participation, the contest officials in consultation with the State Director of Music may declare the preliminary round to be the final contest.

(3) 20 to 29 Bands. If there are 20 to 29 bands, the top 10 bands will advance from the preliminary round to the final round. In addition, any band below tenth place that receives a ranking of three or higher from at least two of the music judges and one of the marching judges will also advance to the final round. The two marching judges and two of the music judges will change captions. There will be a drum major retreat at the end of the preliminary round to announce the results. (4) 30 Or More Bands. If there are 30 or more bands, the top 12 bands will advance from the preliminary round to the final round. In addition, any band below twelfth place that receives a ranking of three or higher from at least two of the music judges and one of the marching judges will also advance to the final round. The two marching judges and two of the music judges will change captions. There will be a drum major retreat at the end of the preliminary round to announce the results. I would def put bridgeland over cy fair for UIL. Cy fair always has more of a BOA show so they don't normally do well. Bridgelands show this year is gonna be fire

Tell me you're a homer without telling me you're a homer.

For the record, Cy-Fair won the Area (yes, in UIL) in 2022, and finished 1 point behind them in Area in 2023 along with making state finals with them and finishing 1 pt behind them again in Finals.  That is far from a "don't normally do well in UIL" performance result.  I don't know who will win, but at least speak in facts.

I think he just simply meant they aren’t as UIL oriented as they are BOA.
