  1. Sadly I kinda agree with you, the hightest an Area A band has every placed in 4A state is 7th in the 90s was Plainview. The only 2 bands I could ever see going up the finalist quality are Del Valle and Frenship, the only 2 rapidly increasing programs up here.
  2. Just interested to see what everybodies favorite is. Mine is 2007, every show, has something I just love, PCEP and Harrison that year are 2 of my favorites ever.
  3. Considering Area A hasn't had a band above 2A in Finals since 2006, that would make me very happy. Which Area A schools do you speak of? I know Frenship and Del Valle are definetely on the rise. Frenship beat Azle (Area A 1st place and 14th at state last year) pretty handily at the Centennial Contest and Del Valle placed pretty well in BOA Arlington.
  4. Dates are different for every Region, and Region 1's were yesterday. So.........
  5. Region is here or past, so how did you do? I got 2nd chair out of 28.
  6. I've always wondered what the most challenging show is out there, any thoughts? Avon lately has been putting on some intense shows.
  7. I'd say 2010 hands down.
  8. I ♥ Cymbal Lines. Especially Round Rocks.
  9. Come on, he's asking a question, let's give him a answer and not be mean. Escape-Asphault Cocktail? Prayer of Light-Lux would go well as stated above. Let Go-Not to sure here, would take some thinking. Flight-Might be a little obvious, but Firebird suite. Can't go wrong with that. Transformations-Some Samuel Barber would go well with this. Not sure of anything specific, just know that his style kind of fits there. (At least in my mind). I probably didn't give the best answers, since I usually build a theme out of a piece of music I already have in mind. Are you planning on using these with anything or just doing this for fun?
  10. I wouldn't say a majority of guards are sloppy. They usually make themes more noticable and add a lot more charecter to a show. If used effectivley I would say that they could play a role in a UIL competition. There isn't a caption for Guard in UIL, but they sure do help visually.
  11. I really wouldn't find it funny if some random person hiding behind a keyboard was telling me my school sucks. Just sayin.
  12. I'd say Clovis could have given them a running this year, considering they were 1.15 away from American Fork at BOA St. George last weekend. (15th last year and 14th the previous year at BOA grand nationals). If they keep improving on that level, I'd say we could be hearing more about NM bands. The day before they took a visual caption from American Fork as well.
  13. I like me some drum shows, and Round Rock nailed it for me. Fast intense drill, emotional playing, and that drum line. Mmm Claudia Taylor Johson's show was just all around designed well. Loved the Music, the uniforms, and definitely the colors. Cy Fair for some reason was my third favorite this year, I don't know why, it just fit with me.
  14. Agreed. So if you saw 3A state 04 then you saw us. lol
  15. I'm not gonna lie, Canton dropping was a shock to me as well. Congrats to Argyle on their repeat and congrats to North Lamar and Pinceton on their first time to medal! (I believe it was their fist time to medal, correct me if I am wrong please)
  16. That's where we hope it's headed, if we improve as much as we did last year to this year to next year, we could be far ahead of the Canyon's that got 3rd at state in 02 and 04. Should be awesome.
  17. In other news.......lol North Lamar should do pretty well in 3A, never heard of them until I watched a video. They are pretty dang good!
  18. Quite frankly I don't undertand what you are saying. Oh well, every person is entitled to their opinion.
  19. I'm looking forward to see how Richland does.
  20. I might add Round Rock on the 5A rising list, but that's just an opinion. Great list. (Considering you put us on the rise. lol)
  21. So now you are completely changing your opinion? Interesting.
  22. Definetely, if we made it to state last year and got dead last, I would have still been the happiest boy in the world because we made it that far.
  23. I'm taking my director over (no offense) a white trash movie that I would never watch. I'm trying to be serious, don't' take it as a joke. I'm not as blessed as kids being in bands like Bell or Marcus, but I'm proud that my band can perform a show that I can be proud of and am proud to be in the Canyon High School Soaring Pride Band. Placements don't matter. No stop kidding and start being serious. :/
