  1. That argument doesn't really hold water when Round Rock did worse at BOA SA in Visual GE (33rd place) then at UIL State in Content and Design (25th). I know that's not apple to apples but it's as close as we have. Most likely the tarp meant nothing to their score. Their issue this year is the Content in the Visual Caption of the their show in BOA and UIL. They got 28th in Visual Ensemble at BOA and 23rd in Visual Ensemble at UIL State, but scored much better in Individual Visual at both events.
  2. Nice Westlake and Southlake. Just like Football State Finals last year.
  3. Some truly awful sounds coming out of this college band. Not a great ad for their music school.
  4. CTJ isn’t messing around today. Tons of energy.
  5. Did anybody just hear a metronome clicking at the end of Coppell’s ballad? Wow, I just went back and listened to the same place from SA Finals. A metronome count off is audible from that run as well. Yikes.
  6. Welcome to an argument from 20 years ago... I can tell you when Hebron was performing exactly zero people gave a bleep about what the pen tip props looked like, where they were played or how it tied into the show. They were going to win because of the insane performance quality either way. They would have won if they were in street clothes...
  7. No one should be worried about the program that had the highest Ind. Vis. score at GN's in 2019.
  8. Yeah, Reagan was definitely around 5th to 7th in music to me. Just not the same quality of sound of the other top groups. Odd score. To have them higher in Ensemble Music and close in Ind. Music to Hebron? Not even close.
  9. It's from Cirque du Soleil. But also music from their first time at Grand Nationals in 2002.
  10. The ONLY reason Texas didn't have more bands in Finals is that only 6 bands traveled. If Reagan, Vista Ridge, and Marcus came up this year, Texas would have had 9 bands in Finals.
  11. The Woodlands Mason Vandy Carmel CTJ RR Hebron Avon Union Leander Homestead Ayala
  12. They scored a 94.1 at San Antonio. I’m pretty sure the judges love them.
  13. To clarify, Legacy HS has never been a 5A school. The school opened as a 4A in 2007 with a JV Band that did not go to Area, but instead competed only at Region and received a first division.
  14. FYI, All bands in 4A and 5A got a 1, except Lake Dallas, which got a 2.
  15. I would not characterize Cedar Park's playing as "just blasting away."
  16. Last year was the second time Westlake went to DMI, they went for the first time all the way back in 1997, placing 6th.
