  1. Oh come on. You can’t be serious. Can we have some sort of objective standard of what “good” is here?
  2. BA is having electronic issues too and their tuning issues outside have in fact travelled inside.
  3. Oh come on. People with eyes and ears can make an easy judgement call. If Norwin could play in tune with good fundamental tone quality it would be a contest, but alas.
  4. Hey now, you brought small Texas bands up and I gave a hypothetical example.

  6. They will be ahead of most of the bands on performance quality alone. Just like 2017 where the scored 87ish out of SA Finals and got 12th at GN’s.
  7. I would have never thought that PCEP would become the Velvet Knights.
  8. Why is Carmel not the favorite? They have a better show than BA and no tuning issues as of two weeks ago.
  9. Yeah, it wasn't the cold either. The lowest it got in Tulsa Tuesday night was 57, and besides the soloists were in tune.
  10. Eh, the ensemble tuning is rough. The Woodlands, Marcus, CTJ, Reagan sound better. Coppell that lost to them in St. Louis sounded better. I'd even take Avon and Carmel(They will be the real tough out for the Texas bands) over them right now.
  11. I worked as a visual tech for Keenedale for two weeks back in 08 starting mid season. The Director didn’t have them doing basics block or a real warmup to start practice. He told be that this is 3A and not 5A and he just wanted me to help add GE moments and they don’t need to do what the big programs do. They ended up down near the bottom at State (Apparently you could sleepwalk into State back then.) While Argyle HS won State with their version of 5A LD Bell’s 2001 show. He either didn’t want to compete with Argyle or didn’t know how to. To me it seemed like he just didn’t care enough to anything but the bare minimum.
  12. This reminds me of my Senior year at Area in 2002. Area D switched from being Austin and SA to being Austin and Houston. They called out the advancing bands in Alphabetical order... It was freezing cold, raining, and everyone was huddled under ponchos trying to hear who was called. They called out, "The Woodlands," nobody realized that "The" was actually a part of their name since we hadn't ever competed against them and the school was only 6 years old. So, Westlake was still open to being called. Myself and a few others that went on the BOA Forums back then were aware and shouted out to let everybody know. We ended up in 4th behind Spring, The Woodlands, and Bowie. I'm sure that was tough for Westfield (5th place) missing out for the first time in forever and hearing "West..." as well. I know Leander (6th place) had many people crying as we walked past that night. Tough contest.
  13. That was Westlake’s best run of the year.
  14. They were great. Ensemble issues are still there weakness (relatively speaking.)
  15. Flower Mound needs to lock in all those Full Ensemble Tuning moments if they want to Medal at GN’s. That issue sticks out because everything else is so good.
  16. There’s that bush league metronome for Coppell again. Shouldn’t that be a penalty? That band is too good to need that.
